The first Steam review I posted was negative, and I was not a part of this forum or any forum other than SotA. Then I changed my review to positive, had upgraded my RF pledge to Ancestor. I tried to say as many positive things as I could muster, but to be honest, it was very little. I kept holding out hope. But this POT BS just took it way over the top and exposed every crack I originally talked about and it all became one big chasm. It was at that point I changed my review to negative. No one in this forum asked anyone to go post a negative review. Whereas, good ol' boy Starr asked everyone to go write a positive review on Steam. If he hadn't done that, and people weren't lying through their teeth, that review would be below the mixed range. So the very things you accuse people of here, are exactly what they actually did over at Shroud, not here. You know Rav, it's called honesty, but more important, reality. I don't think I have accused anyone over here. I have tried to be civil. My opening comment here was maybe a little humor but it still is somewhat the truth, as I can picture it in my head that way. I am being honest in my posts also. I understand your frustration as I went through that also. In the beginning I was anti Player owned towns. I do not fault you for any positive or negative posts. I do not find fault with Starr doing what he did. He did not beg people to go and post positive. He suggested posting over there. Anyone in their right mind with money invested in a game wants to make it succeed. Or maybe not, I know I want it to succeed. Reality is subjective, and perceptions of reality are subjective. You may not see things the way others do, and thats alright. It does not make anyone right or wrong though, just different. When I attempted to say positive things, and wrote a positive review, yes of course I wanted the game to succeed because I plunked down too much money. Who wants to lose money for no reason? No one. But the decisions have snowballed into one big problem and where they spend their time and what they're doing has nothing to do with the KS claims. THAT is when you actually start thinking about the game failing, and even wanting it to fail to be able to say, "I told you so." I'm not a vengeful type, but honestly, that company is so badly managed it's a miracle they ever got backers.

*goes to make some more popcorn* IM would never do that, that would be a form of moderation. Hey, show me where I am bitchin about anything. I am being constructive. Rav, Rav, it was a joke. I know it doesn't fit your image of me as "angry."

Some people do not see it as a fiasco, but as a work in progress. Portalarium has responded to the wants of the community from the begining, and they honestly probably should not have. The community wanted pots because everyone was worried about player housing. Now that there are pots there are people that wish that they never were introduced. If portalarium is guilty of anything its trying to please everyone and spreading themselves to thin. I don't think they are malicious at all. I think they are all great hard working developers who are chewing a mouthful of promises. It takes time and patience for it all to work out. I still stand by saying this will be a great game in the end, and those that stick to backing it will get some pretty good benefits.

I could almost get behind what you're saying here except one thing. "Pleasing everyone." Come on, be honest. You know the only people they aim to please are the ones bleeding out their ears with cash. Which totally does not fit the F2P model. F2P absolutely depends on a large player base of microtransactions. Not a small, niche one of huge dollars that make only the rich happy. What are they supposed to do? Suck off each other? No, they want to suck off the poor - rent town lots to people who can't afford to buy them, etc. And who will even want to play the game with such a huge disparity in equity?

I find it very amusing. It just kills you guys to see anyone that is happy or positive lol. I hope there is something good in your life and that you have other things to do than sit and watch the Shroud forums. I can picture you like Eddie Murphy playing gumby. Merry Christmas Damnit!! as he is locked out of the house and looking in through the window crying. Being happy because something is inspiring or exciting is one thing. If that were the case, you wouldn't have gone out of your way in your "song" to call out the naysayers. Your version of happy is nothing more than a defense mechanism, whether you want to recognize it or not. If it wasn't, the words would have been very different. Pull your head out of your ass and stop lying to people. Fuck, could you people over there get anymore clueless?

Well I don't share the same view, and I am being honest. I don't think its their intention to punish the average player, but to reward people that contribute money to development via pledges and such. you spend more you get more. This is one example of "perception". We see things from different angles. You think the people that do not put money into the game should be the same as people that have spent thousands. You are entitled to your opinion. My perception of reality is that there would not be a game without these backers. There is no F2P model by the way. You must buy the game ($45). Yes the add on store helps fund the development and possibly in the future with micro transactions to help with the upkeep and possibly episode 2. I don't know and that is speculation. As far as the renting lots, it is for keeping the player base active and if some one goes inactive then the spot will open up for another person, instead of perpetual limbo and not being used. It is also a gold sink. As far as other players charging taxes I have never been a fan of that, but to each there own.

It matters to me only in the fact that I believe generally Portalarium is taking advantage of people. If a new player decides to come in and read that, they are going to think it is all flowers and honey. This is why I and this place exist in the current form. It is funny, the bears of the caring variety over there would have equally interesting things to say about us. If only they were allowed! Come here carebears, I won't bite... Hrm, well I dont think portalarium has anything to do with what Razimus posted, but I do understand your statement. From my view point much of what has been moderated on the forums has been because of the toxic tone of the comments, not what actually was trying to be said. When things are framed in a sentence that makes people want to react combatantantly. If your dissent was structured in the form of discussion instead of from a do or die position you will get more attention. Same with this forum. You might get more discussion and traffic if it was not so toxic. But I understand that you do not want to moderate at all so you will get what you get. Its all about presentation though. Port might be to blame for some of it, but some of the blame belongs to the posters also. What I think you fail to realize is that, at least when it comes to some of us, is that we didn't all resort to toxic comments right off the bat. I didn't go off the reservation until I had exhausted all other avenues of communication and was tired of talking to myself and accomplishing nothing. I wrote SEVERAL PMs directly to Starr, and with my blessings, a respected community member even shared some of our PM conversations on a variety of topics with Starr (who then added Dallas and Rick to the conversation at one point). These were PMs about topics like the pledge tier changes, the Steam Review Request, and how terrible the first incarnation of the E3 trailer was (with its emphasis on the cool swag that could be bought in the add-on store). They weren't toxic. They weren't combative. They were only said in private because I was trying to express some harsh truths in a way that was not "toxic" to the community. And... what did I hear in response? *crickets*... Every. Single. Time. Not once did ANYBODY from Port respond to what I wrote. They presumably read it, maybe even acted on some of the things I said, but as I grew more and more dissatisfied with their "business as usual" kind of attitude because they kept doing the same type of dumb shit that I had been complaining about before, I started bypassing PMs to post some of these complaints publicly, and then I did get some interaction from Port.... of the PUNITIVE kind. So, it was no response and zero acknowledgement when I tried to express concerns quietly and with respect, and then I was kicked to the curb when I finally started to speak up publicly. And only after all of this did I finally reach the point when I really became extremely unreasonable, but that was after MONTHS of being ignored and feeling like I was some kind of Mr. Cellophane. This is why I am still so angry about the "community management" and the moderation practices over there, because they are normally only reactive toward dissenting opinions in a negative way, and there is rarely an effort made to be proactive toward the complaints of backers in a positive manner. Even the slightest hint of understanding or "yeah we hear you" would have done a world of good in my case, but they just gave me the silent treatment every time. So when new issues arose like Blake Blackstone's customized POT (and Starr announcing in Dev+ plans to sell customized POTs for thousands more while the original purchasers of POTs still had barely any details about what exactly they had bought), I was already so cynical about expressing my grievances in the "right" way that I went straight to the wrong way because why the fuck not!? Then, they temp banned me for over a month, leaving me to stew and stew and stew some more.... and stew I did (and, again, never ONCE did anybody over there say a word to me or try to smooth things over, besides dolling out the ban and then writing me like 3+ weeks after doing so to tell me they still thought it best to keep me "temp" banned, but they would help me get in touch with andernut to sell my account). I took them up on the offer, because why not, and then proceeded to savage them because " iterative tit for tat, motherfuckers!" And then I was perma-banned, on the official forums and eventually on the Steam forums for being a "disgruntled player"... All you guys see is the end product of months of frustration that has boiled over. You see people explode, but you don't seem to consider what primed the powder keg and who set the spark that set some of us off. IDK how to explain it any better, except you give people who also wanted SotA to succeed way too little credit. Just ask Caliya. I used to argue with her completely valid points and carry water for Port with the best of them.... But, apparently, all people remember me for is the bad and apparently think I was just a toxic person, so what can I do in response to that? Maybe one day they'll be in the same position I am now and then perhaps they will understand better how things get so messed up.

I do agree that port has communication issues. I myself have been ignored just the same as you. I pm'd all the devs before and rarely have I ever gotten a response. I could speculate and say that they shunned me but in all reality they are extremely busy. I can't imagine how many messages they get in their inboxes from all the posters. I don't think thats an excuse really and I think the default should be to the community manager to answer all the pm's. She is rather busy herself though doing writing and account merges and such. Again though I still think she should be more active in the community issues, individual and group alike. My poem that I wrote was not a jab at anyone here by the way, it was a hint for people posting over there to be more constructive and less toxic and the community would receive them better.

But, once things start to go sour between them and a backer, I think they need to pull their heads out of the sand and try to figure out what is wrong BEFORE things get to a point of irreconcilable differences. P.S. You damn well better not be calling any of us conspirators.... I'm not the king of conspiracy, I'm the king of reality.... DO YOU UNDERSTAND ME, BOY?!

Aye, and this is where I think they need work, the bridge between community and devs. It has to be an truly difficult job to try to understand each persons mentality over text forum talk. Maybe they should have some other communication via telephone or skype or google hangout for the people that are on the edge. I cant pretend to know what to do in this situation. Maybe multiple community leaders would have been better. *shrugs*

Maybe they should have some other communication via telephone or skype or google hangout for the people that are on the edge. Likely too many "DISLOYAL" backers to deal with. Only way is for them to do some real soul-searching about the problem points (instead of handing out bans and moderating people like crazy). Also, I seem to recall a Steam Review where somebody was complaining about never receiving their pledge reward "conference call" (with RG?), so I can't imagine skype calls with trolls would go over well for those still waiting on pledge rewards, even if it was just with someone under FL appointed to handle the unwashed masses... Still, I'd love if they gave us the opportunity to call them on Skype. I have a feeling they'd hang up their phone tho... pussies!

*grabs popcorn* I wonder what a bystander who has nothing to do with the sota forums or the SU forums would think. Would they think sota is evil and twisted, or would they think these forums are evil and twisted. I think I know the answer to that. They wouldn't think anything at all, because bystanders don't even know about this game, and likely won't in a few months, at this rate. Prepare for Mixed by first second third scheduled launch come Novemberish. Oh, who am I kidding? This game won't release this year lol. Not everyone here was banned, either; I sold off my account as have a few others (or they're trying to). We post because this game is a shitstorm. When it "launches" and the publications get their hands on the juicy gaming story of Lord British being dethroned, ending up a has-been in the gaming industry, this is going to be hilarious. Two things, also: 1. Your poem is third grade level writing matched with desperate neckbeard level brown nosing; and 2. Your "eats/gets popcorn" comeback wasn't funny or clever the first 3 times you used it in this thread. It won't be witty the fourth time, either. I know many of the die-hard SotA fanbois are basically just solitary geriatrics with little else going for them in life outside a handful of equally pathetic quasi-human beings of similarly delusional mindsets they circle jerk with around a statue of Lord British, but c'mon, realize if you're going to come to these forums - the trolls' den, the back alley of incestuous Russian gangbangers and warrior princesses of ill-repute - then bring it hard or get fucked. We use big words and profanity with equal efficiency here, and unlike the blowjob carousel you all have over there with one another and the devs, cheering over taller and pricier piles of dogshit, when we talk, Ravicus, we cite evidence of our claims. Y'know, like adults. PS: You're still not banned from here, nor will you be. Why? Because here an opinion, no matter how fucking stupid the thought or inbred the poster, will be addressed.

You are scorned and feel hurt. That is the bottom line. You will do what ever you feel you need to to drag others down to make your misery have company. I actually pity you. I feel that you really are an intelligent man, and you could possibly have a decent conversation if you let yourself. Your rage consumes you sir.

dewderonomy great thinking there I can't help at laugh at the forum filter for the one letter though. I won't be able to type it without it getting changed lol. Flower'mon will be the new word. I'd say their word filter is a bit crazy. But I feel honored they replaced that word with my avatar's flower lol

I know many of the die-hard SotA fanbois are basically just solitary geriatrics with little else going for them in life outside a handful of equally pathetic quasi-human beings of similarly delusional mindsets they circle jerk with around a statue of Lord British, but flower'mon, realize if you're going to come to these forums - the trolls' den, the back alley of incestuous Russian gangbangers and warrior princesses of ill-repute - then bring it hard or get fucked. I like how he framed his argument too. haha I mean, seriously? Everyone in the Shroud forum would have sore fingers hitting the "report" button and crying to the fanboi moderators to remove posts that actually had some intelligence.

Words with actual meaning hold my interest.

*grabs popcorn* I wonder what a bystander who has nothing to do with the sota forums or the SU forums would think. Would they think sota is evil and twisted, or would they think these forums are evil and twisted. I think I know the answer to that. blowjob carousel roflawlz! is that a verb or a noun?! Who cares, fucking awesome as both!

I feel that you really are an intelligent man, and you could possibly have a decent conversation if you let yourself. Your rage consumes you sir. It isn't rage - I actually made money (albeit only a few bucks) back on my pledge, so I didn't lose anything but a little time. It's a true interest in the gaming industry as a whole, the problems it is going through, and how SotA is so blatantly exuding those problems with a legendary staff at its helm. It's a train wreck, one I'm getting a kick out of. When this fails, and fails hard, there won't be rage. I even told them goodbye previously after I started the selling process, and realized they're a pretty cool group of people. Dare I say, a veritable bouquet of sweet-smelling flowers. They share a lot of interests in games I do, and if we're angry, it isn't because people are happy on some shitfest elsewhere (if that was the case, we'd be picketing SecondLife and WoW), but rather another shitty MMO is being made on our collective dime. Richard said he wanted a UI-less (or at least minimalistic UI) back in '13. He wanted intuitive combat, immersive gameplay. How did he let Chris Spears fuck this shit up so badly? Now that I have my money back, I assure you, there is no rage; it's pure glee watching this pile of crap simmer in the boiling sun of increasing criticism. I just saw this: I'm no developer, but that was done by volunteers who will invariably get their project shut down by Capcom (ie, won't make money off of it). We have veterans of the industry with this, instead: Look at that shit. It even LOOKS like fucking LARP armor. It looks like it's made of polyurethane and foam. I've played late 90s and early 2000 games with better CGI intros and cutscenes than this game looks in 2015. There is no rage, no ire, no bitter tears that tasteless whales are throwing money foolishly at false hopes and empty promises with SotA; it's criticism of the game and the staff from the perspective of a life-long gamer and enthusiast alongside fellow gamers of similar backgrounds who also got sucked up into the hype and tossed about in this suckstrom. As far as having backers: they have backers because of Richard's name on it, and more importantly, on UO. You all can tell yourselves whatever the hell you want about SotA being an Ultima successor, about it being more about the single-player games than Ultima Online, but those fuckers knew what they were doing when they gallivanted around the internet talking about UO. They knew it would bring in people who would buy another chance at early MMO greatness. Now they get to enjoy that biting them in the ass. I like how he framed his argument too. haha I mean, seriously? Words with actual meaning hold my interest. I don't have to try belittling you as a person, Rav. Your posts here and elsewhere do that plenty enough. Ironic, though, that you talk about "words with actual meaning" - as opposed to words without meaning? Those aren't words, dipshit, but way to play the pseudo-intellectual warrior-poet, sirrah.

Rav and so many others have often told me I'm "angry." And now they tell dewderodomy he's angry. Thing is, it really is a reflection. We must really piss them off. lol (and yes, I'm psycho-analyzing that bullshit)

Another long and meaningless post to play on others emotions and have no facts presented. You obviously are hurt and are striking back at anyone who does not see things the way you do. Again, I think you are above this. Your hurt and pain shows because a normal person will just move on. You even said you made a slight profit. Now its your mission to be bitter at port, and you let it consume you. You have passion, and it shows. As with poets and writers passion can lead to depression. Its a lonely existence when all you do is hate. I hope you find peace.

ROFL
Pretty sure dewd is doing fine brah.
He's a little bit above all this. Well you.
You're the sad little soul writing a poem about a game that clearly has issues then travel to a forum dedicated to highlighting these issues in order to put down said forum members as nothing more then bitter hollow shells . Not sure on the reasoning though.
But hats off to having the balls to post your creation I do respect that its easier for dicks to criticize then create. So you are better then me in that regard.
I also commend you coming here I just wish you came with a little more substance.
3/5
Themo is still on top of the leader board with constructive conversation and criticism of our little cult.
