If possible, I'd like some assistance from someone here who is also willing to show up on video as well to test a few things in SotA with me. I just jumped back on today, and noticed a few odd things...
Get back to me in this thread or via PM, whichever you feel comfortable with.

Yup, confirmed with a member of SU helping out. AvatarAcid account has been totally fire-walled off from Shroud of the Avatar Multi Player Online.

So no official warning/statement of account being banned?
No EULA breach? Man that's pretty crazy

Well I got banned from the forum for running a hate website and posting "confidential" info.
That is the last word I had from them. They never returned an E-Mail to me after my last to them which was indicated on my last post.
I've sent them another new one about this.

But on your EULA/TOS question, of course they can. Any company has a similar line to the following on their TOS so cover their asses:
If you violate the Terms, Portalarium reserves the right, at its sole discretion, with or without notice, to issue you a warning, or suspend or remove your access to the service. Portalarium also reserves the right to refuse any user access to the Service without notice for any reason, including, but not limited to, a violation of the Terms.

I'm assuming it's going to be a wafer thin sooky one. How pathetic they are. I'm so glad your product sucks port and you will be out of the industry

With that line in the TOS, you don't have to breach it. Signing up to the service enables them to terminate you at any point, flat.

Anyway fuck EULAS they live in legal purgatory. So basically the precedent has been set you can lose your pledge for critical posts

Have you tried again to be sure it's not a strange glitch? I can log in and see if they've done the same to my account

I can log in and see if they've done the same to my account Yes, it was happening for some time now, over a week. I just didn't realize it until I tried to open a public vendor haha. Like I said, its not unusual to be alone in MPO most of the time.

Can you let someone you trust log into your account and see if it's your IP address that's banned? Maybe try logging in directly rather than via Steam? Is there anything listed under your Account management pages? Eliminate everything just in case, and you'll have a much stronger case for complaint if you can prove it... but what a shoddy, hypocritical thing to do if so, especially as didn't one of the Devs say they appreciated even the negative forums (meaning these) for feedback in a Hang Out once?
I've just checked by the way, and I can see items on the public vendors, and occupied homes in Owls Head. For now...

He's definitely walled off. I tried to zone to him, no go. A message that that command wasn't possible and if I had any questions, to email Portalarium. heh
I was able to zone to someone else, because I managed to find one person. The starting town of Solania is dead as a doornail. There's even one village lot available. The public vendor worked, I even recognized the name of one of my game friend's crafted goods.

It tickles me this had to be tested. Imagine any other mmo where wouldn't be able to tell if you are online or offline unless you asked for help.

This is unacceptable. You haven't done anything in game at all have you?
I'm not even sure how to ask this on the forums.
I assume my avatar will be banned sooner or later....we still own the game though right?

This has been taken to the SotA forum, by Rune. <waves> hi Rune. (here is the link to the thread) www.shroudoftheavatar.com/forum/index.php?threads/banned-players-being-banned-from-the-online-game.44204/No matter what anyone is saying on the SotA forum, I was logged into SotA, and AvatarAcid is on my friend's list. I could clearly see, on Steam, that he was logged into the game. He agreed to let me try to meet up with him. He never showed online. Further, when I tried to /zone to him, it told me that command would not be executed and if I had questions, to contact Portalarium. Yet I did zone to another player. So it was specific to AvatarAcid. I cannot speak for him, nor know with absolute certainty, that he had done nothing in the game itself to deserve a MPO ban. Nor do I know if he's harassed people outside of the forums or game. He can try to speak to that issue, if people will even believe him. Talking about SotA in a negative (yet truthful) way, off the forums, on a website is called a "hate website" by them. They are obviously doing their best to punish him. And Rune, you don't see me over there because I've been permabanned (if you haven't seen that thread or blog posts by IM yet).

That thread is fucking hilarious.
Rune: "So, all I'm trying to ask here is, if someone gets banned on the forums, can they be banned in the game?"
SotA: "People can get banned in lots of games. Terms of Service. It takes a lot to be banned."
Rune: "Yes, I know, I get that, but what I'm asking is, if you're banned on the forums or do something out of the game, can you then be banned in game for those out of game actions?"
SotA: "Lots of big name games and companies ban people for ToS violations. They own the forums and the game, so they can do both, but it requires a lot."
Rune: "What constitutes 'a lot', and is that even legal?"
SotA: "It's well known you can be banned from a game for breaking Terms of Service. Many, many, many companies have the right to do this."
Rune: "So, you're saying Port can take my money, I get banned on the forums because the community sucks, and then I lose access to the game?"
SotA: "You don't have the whole story. They're likely cracking accounts and stealing IP addresses. It takes a lot to get banned from a game. Many companies have rules for banning because of Terms of Service..."

I like how Spoon is the voice of bans on the forums, there to let everyone know why someone should or should not be banned. El oh el.
