Just finished reading the responses. That little butthurt fucktard Myrcello took the opportunity to mention this site, (not in name, but in spirit): "A post will be created on a other site about this thread saying: Hey take a look at this gem. On this thread all will support what "The Hendoman" says and they will discuss using all the "slang" words about how crazy all of us other forum members are and how "blind we are" to disagree with 'The Hendoman'" I'll bet he's got his fat ass firmly planted in his chair, waiting for someone to notice him over here so he can peddle his brand of bullshit once more. Welcome back Myrcello! Long time, no see.

Hey Myrcello! We should all really just hang out in a game on day it be probably more fun then anything else on the market You gotta admit it is getting very repetative. Someone says something bad about SOTA, Fanboi army mobilises, Few people agree with OP, then SHROUD UNLIMITED LIGHTS UP! We been quiet for the past 5 days. Glad this got us back into the fatseat

At the end i did say: It is just a Game
And no matter if it is on this forum or on any other Forum.
That we are able to talk, rant,or whatever way of communicating is a good sign.
It means that we probably have good lives providing us the opportunity to spend so much time on our hobbies.

Baron Drocis said: It's a lie that the devs listen to what people say or give a shit about ANY of us. I was wholly ignored when I spoke out against the Steam Review Request (and was mocked by the community for my troubles). Worse still, I was "temp banned" while the people who indirectly compared me to a bible-thumping lunatic were left unscathed. Over time, I think the warnings I made were proven valid, but I've never seen any mea culpa from Port/Starr or the oh-so-smug community.... Then, I called the customized PoTs for what they really represented (i.e., more catering to the whales at the expense of those who came before them and had been requesting more information about the basic features of their PoTs), and I got a "temp" ban that lasted over a month (before I was finally able to sell my pledge and add-on items, at a substantial loss). It's not like I'm the only person who has noted the bullshit of them moving to roll out customized PoTs before supplying even basic details about the basic PoTs they sold at first. Just look at this recent thread, and the very short (but all too telling) response from Rufus, for an example of what I mean: www.shroudoftheavatar.com/forum/index.php?threads/requesting-more-info-about-npc-buildings-available-for-pots.33494/ and Rufus' all too telling reply: "Good luck with that." (He has asked numerous times for more details about this, and gotten into arguments with Drocis about the intelligence of putting these structures in a PoT, but details about NPC structures and NPC's in POTs have NEVER been forthcoming). On the Steam forum, Katrina Beakers was talking down to people and being a right said twat (behavior typical of SotA backers, example: "I don't know. When I first came onto this forum the first thing I saw was that when anyone said anything critical about the game, all the loyalists jumped him. No one said, "You have a point" or anything like that. It was scary and it almost warned me off, at once." ~ForestDweller). So I speak up and call "her" out on that kind of behavior. Point out that snotty people like her are exactly what turned me off to the game. A sentiment MANY others share. Port's response? I am now banned on the Steam SotA forums too, reason given: "Disgruntled player who was banned from the SotA community now engaging in the same behavior on Steam."So, maybe Drocis is right. They *DO* take what people post seriously, as in, they will ban your ass and silence you at all costs if it means you might be saying something REMOTELY negative about their precious cash cow. But, he is totally wrong about the "great change based on that feedback." I made many suggestions, many heartfelt posts, and very little of what I said was ever taken seriously by Port or the community that proudly proclaims itself to be oh-so-fucking-wonderful at every turn.

Glad someone new stirred the pot of endless Ban. I was getting bored with the no chatting on this forum.
All I see on the SOTA forums are the same boring faces with the same boring critiques.
I can't remember who said that DBG formally SOE was the worst for censoring their forums and oh golly where they wrong. DBG even though have done lots of things wrong, have learned in the new world you can't mute all the people and sometimes letting everyone speak their mind without removing their posts is the best way to deal with it. Or you have sites like this one pop up and it's better to keep things in house then let them run rampant all over the net.
At least Envy posted that the game can't continue to be made forever due to funding.
When will they learn that you can't Banhammer everyone in hopes of them going away.

My favorite part of them banning so many people and making their forum pay-to-post is that it has dramtically reduced the number of new posts on their forum. The posting traffic is so low that when a thread they don't like gets locked, it just stays on the first page of the "what's new?" section for hours and hours. www.shroudoftheavatar.com/forum/index.php?find-new/threadsFor example, the post IM linked in OP was locked over 4 hours ago, yet it's only now just barely made its way 2/3's of the way down the "what's new" first page. GG, Port. Soon nobody will post in your den of terror and your attempt to build a stagnant ecosystem with sycophantic feed-back loop will be complete... At this rate, the only sound you will hear if you venture over to SotA's official forums will be: Quite the fucking ecosystem you got going on there, Starr. What a revolutionary approach to incorporating community feed-back in making your "game" (i.e., cash machine). Maybe next time, you can just skip having forums all together and just give people a Stephen Colbert-esque weekly poll question they can respond to: SotA.... great game, or GREATEST game?^Only poll question they'll ever need, baby

Can't believe I actually made money off of this shit. I had some hats, though, so that might be why. I don't know if he's interested in another one, though. I'm sure you could find someone to buy it.

Rf knight pledge. Less then what I paid unfortunately. Only slightly though. I really appreciate his work trying to get a good price.
Just gotta think on it. I'm probably being greedy
But doesn't bode well for sota if a Rf account with several add-ons is not reaching parity. Demand has dropped

Jatvardur bought my $45 account for $50 (well, $47-something after PayPal tax). Can't believe I actually made money off of this shit. I had some hats, though, so that might be why. I don't know if he's interested in another one, though. I'm sure you could find someone to buy it. Fucking half whit... He made a killing off you! Lolololololol That is literally impossible. SotA will not succeed. That means the houses, the pixel crack, the hats, the POTs, etc. will come offline within 6-12 months of launch (and that's being generous). From a pure business perspective, they do not have a plan to keep revenue flowing. It relies on two things: 1) That there will be at least 2-3x as many buyers as there are pledgers to support the game at launch; and 2) That current backers/later buyers will buy from their online store. To break it down further, as more people play the game through Steam, the lower the rating drops. This is a constant that has not stopped since the Steam EA launch; the only reason it has a significant positive review base is because of the niche playerbase being who they are (ie, cultists of British and fanatics) and the push by Starr to storm Steam with positive reviews. Problem is, even among the positive reviews there are deal-breaking critiques listed in the details. They might not be deal-breakers for the reviewer, but they are for most people who will buy into this genre. It cannot compete with new games coming out this year to mention nothing of the huge library of awesome MMOs and single-player experiences slated for late '15 and throughout 2016. It's going to attempt to compete with better PvM/MMO games, better sim games, better PvP games and better WRPGs with outdated graphics, terrible UI, boring combat, extremely archaic gameplay, and clunky mechanics. The models and design of the characters, armor and the like are just pitiful by industry standards, and the people who will buy it and support it because of British's name on it ALREADY HAVE. There are no more closet fanbois waiting to jump on the train. This is it. Everyone else will have to be sold on its merits alone, and even among those will be people who don't trust Garriott to put out anything of quality, knowing his past. Part of the reason SotA has been so "successful" after Kickstarter is because the game ISN'T getting much if any market exposure; whenever there's an editorial piece on it, the comments are 90-95% negative. Other games usually have a decent 50/50 split among proponents and opponents in the comments section for decent games. Public opinion of the game, for those who are aware, is atrocious, and the longer it stays in development with slowly (but surely) dwindling reviews, the harder it is to get backers and buyers who simply "don't know the whole story." So the amount of additional buyers is not going to be significant enough to keep the game online for a year, much less support Episode 2 - which has to be crowdfunded again. Most of the original backers have been burnt out, and nearly everyone who backed has been promised Episodes 2 and 3 already, so they don't have to donate anymore money. So what happens when they can't get Episode 2 running? Considering I tried selling my account for $25 previously and got no bites, back in FEBRUARY when even the most die-hard opponents of combat were still on the fence or even openly supportive of SotA and its card combat, I highly doubt he'll be able to pawn it off to someone else for a profit. If he finds value in it, great, more power to him and I'm happy for the exchange. He thinks the game will succeed and be a worthwhile investment; I do not, and have my reasons. The two above are strictly business-related; they have to have a plan to generate revenue and they do not have one. No business model means you can launch a single-player game and use the profits to fund the next game, but an MMO requires weekly if not daily upkeep - it isn't enough to get the game boxed and shipped, so to speak. Bug/exploit fixes, GM/ban issues (which they seem to have no problem with their volunteers), balancing (which they seem to have zero competency for) and just keeping the lights on all cost money. It requires manpower to be distributed from building to patch-working. They can't build episode 2 if their tiny team is in maintenance mode. That means putting some of them on expansion-building while the rest keep the game afloat. This requires more staff, which their current budget does not support. Now, they may have additional investors, and I believe it, because on their current funding alone they have stretched out their funds thin. They have to be close to running those funds dry; British's mansion of secret corridors, observatory and the like doesn't run on Tesla towers and wisp ether. So from a business perspective alone they're fucked. Bring in the opinion of how shitty this game will ultimately be and how it won't keep players playing and investing, with more and more "sitting and waiting" knowing good-and-well they already have the next 3-6 years of expansions pre-paid, and this game is dead in the water.

I've got a pledge with all 5 episodes, but I then heard about crowdfunding the rest. What the actual fuck. But no concrete information on any of it yet, is there?

Just realized that SotA is at 73% positive on Steam. Read that 69% is "MIXED". Didn't realize they were that close to being in the orange.
THAT'S FUNNY.

I have to admit I think they are at cross roads right now. The direction where they take the combat system is definitely the pivot point.
Lots of mention in Friday news and in the r19 sub forum . Chris directly replies to a detractor.

Chris directly replies to a detractor. Yeah, they could make a significant step forward if the'y just scrap that combat system. They won't, IMO. They seem to be operating under Apple's "people don't know what they want until you give it to them" and the "customer isn't always right" models. Here's the dirty little secret: That only works for Apple. It's an isolated business model and has failed in EVERY OTHER COMPANY who's tried it.
