Meyaka ? has Shroud of the Avatar: Forsaken Virtues 6 hours ago EA owns UO now. It was all amongst our all time favorite games but sometimes things are better left in memory. Remember all the good times and be thankfull you were apart of, imo, one of the best social experiences in human history. UO is long gone, its time to move on and let it rest in peace. As far as Shroud, some of us REALLY love the game. We don't care if the mainstream doesn't understand it. It's not for the mainstream but for a "select" group that appreciate it for what it is. Tee hee Source steamcommunity.com/app/326160/discussions/0/412447524177662667/I love it when they reinforce the stereotypes

Broadsword owns UO now. And countdown to doomsday (also a better RPG than SotA).

Broadsword is essentially Mythic. It was created out of Mythic after EA closed down Mythic. They don't own anything related to it though, as far as I understand. They just oversee the game's operation. They recently released an expansion. I reup my account every few months to check things out and take a stroll down memory lane.

My understanding behind the scenes (I was an EM when the switch happened) is that it's two former Mythic employees who went independent and bought all the publishing and development rights to UO and Dark Age Of Camelot. In particular it's Rob Denton's personal money that's keeping them both afloat, and paid for the expansion. I have vague memories of figures of $1m or $1.3m being the price, but it's been a few years so I could be wrong on that. When the news was announced in EM MIRC, Mesanna was joking she'd have to add Rob in as a relative of the in game Lord Blackthorn. We all got Broadsword logo T-Shirts mailed out too, but as I was already getting tired of the drama and I hate the idea of a company ever owning me, I never opened mine; it's still in the envelope and stuffed in one of my cupboards somewhere, so I have no idea if it even fits But the actual copyrights remain with EA as far as I know, they're basically paying for the right to run the service.

Reading my response, it sounds as though I was saying Mythic=broadsword but I more meant broadsword was born from some folks within Mythic. What you said above more accurate.

Stay on topic. This thread is about laughing at stupid things said not mythical broadswords I want to take this moment to thank all of community for their patience and feedback; and I'm pleased to announce that The Topic will be appearing in the Store soon, and will only cost $25 to place A Topic in your house! No development time has been spent on These Topics, but we will be polishing the game ready for final wipe from here on in, so no more Topics are planned to be announced...
