I thought I would put a series of topics out on how best to support the people creating the content we enjoy based on another topic we have here. I'll be the first one to admit I don't really know or understand the process of getting your content out to the world, and I might not need to because I don't really create any content.
However I consume it and I believe that the creator of the content should benefit from that as much as possible. So those that know, what is the best way to game devs or more indi dev studios, the best way to buy their content without a middle man taking too much of that purchase?

I heard Steam takes between 30 to 40 percent? Ouch!

The ultimate middle man! I suppose it's a question of can the increased sales volume counter the giant slice of pie you have to give to Steam, but (…) ouch.
