"… In many ways, the work of a critic is easy. We risk very little yet enjoy a position over those who offer up their work and their selves to our judgment. We thrive on negative criticism, which is fun to write and to read. But the bitter truth we critics must face, is that in the grand scheme of things, the average piece of junk is probably more meaningful than our criticism designating it so."
Jk, this isn't a recipe. One of SotA's true wizards showed me this quote on the forum and I thought it would we could benefit from it, since we often are, and can get away with, offering criticism for SotA here.

While I understand the intent, what does this offer of critics who do development day in and out much like that team? Its much akin to food critics who arent chefs. Or movie critics who aren't writers and/or directors. I voiced my opinion many times, not just in descent mind you, I did point out the good when it presented, and yet my voice was quashed. What does that say? More about the listener than the speaker.

Damnit, this isn't 4chan! If you want to do that, use the quote button. I wasn't even yelling... Seriously though, that isn't actually my quote. Someone from the SotA forums showed it to me in regards to this forum, and I thought it would make a fitting post. I don't think it applies to you Joviex. You'll have to seek out your own quotes for guidance. I posted the quote because I can relate to it, as someone who criticizes often. In your case, well Idk. I'm not sure you have much to take from your ban/criticism. However, does it not threaten your career to post the things you post here? I mean, surely there is someone in your professional network that knows someone at Portalarium, right? [edit: I still sort of miss him]

I mean, surely there is someone in your professional network that knows someone at Portalarium, right? yeah, me. I know them cause I have a bunch of them added on Linkedin, meet them multiple times, with colleagues at conventions like GDC, etc... My co-workers think they are simply poor managers and developers and have run their community horribly. As for over my food chain, they could care less I am sure. As for "new" employers, well, time will tell. But frankly, they invited the so called back and forth through their own money raising pledges. Again, on top of which, what have I said that a current or future employer would see as defaming or slanderous? Either way, I say what feels right to me, and I know who and where my opinion is valued, so have no worry about "poor taste" syndrome/blacklisting. I can tell you that a certain person that was hired from Port to work for us ended up being a dud. THAT was both surprising and telling all at the same time.

Colour me intrigued sir!
