Comment on the Release 15 Postmortem stream here.
This is what I took away from it.
- It took them close to a month to ship out the prizes that were won on the previous stream? That's really putting the community first, taking laziness and demonstrating that there are no priorities to be had.
- Things like how crafted arrows not producing the correct amount going unnoticed by the developers for so long? How is this even possible? do these people even play their own game or test anything? and why is it so hard to simply change the coding to the correct amount? Derp for life?
- Chris avoiding skill based system because it causes macro issues? really that's your reason? or maybe the correct reason is that worth while combat system is above your coding capabilities. Come up with a better excuse next time. I've already been macroing your shit current system with bots and all, mostly to test if it was possible.
- Chris adding way points onto the compass, like exits, etc, so we don't get "lost" First off I think this current compass is as uncreative as it gets and now they are dumbing the game down even more by directing us to locations. they made fun of games with lines on the ground showing you were to go and now they basically are implementing the same system in a different way. I want to get lost in the world, as it is now the hex's are so small that it makes it impossible to do so but now we get something that makes it even worse by directing us where to go exactly?
- Tracy has a secret character that he's been playing in the world. I'll comment more on this later.
- It was stated that we eventually will be able to steal from other players. Hopefully this one makes it into game. This is an aspect that would make me want to play the game more, if done right.
- It was stated that there will be hex's / zones with full loot enabled. By what was said on this subject it seems like they are very confused with anything related to this. Again I think this system is over the person coding it's head, that it involved way to much thinking, design. He would rather take the lazy way out and create a basic, simple system because that's all he's capable of.
The game is uniquely retarded and Chris should go back to school or retire.

The skill system is what really fucking pisses me off. I may have to write something on that alone because I was fucking sold a game like no other. I was sold a game with no mother fucking cock sucking levels. All levels do is rage me because I know all I'm going to see on release day one is fucking gamer girls tweeting about how fucking many levels they gained that day. Then everyone just stops playing when they reach BS max level whatever. Wait for the next expansion to rinse and repeat only at less value.
Fuck levels. Fuck'm in the ass hole with a big rubber dick.

I have to shut my eyes when FireLotus is on camera. Staring at her for 2-3 minutes should cure anyone who has a fear of creepy clowns.
Of course then I can can only hear her voice and that spew she passes off as dialog. Makes me want to punch a kitten.

You aren't alone on that one Insane, when I first seen the system I was shocked and pissed. I find it really hard to believe that they are dumb enough to abandon the successful UO system for levels, especially after there were not suppose to be levels. There are already fanboys in game bragging about levels, like it's some great accomplishment. There is no challenge in this game yet, so basically they are bragging that they spent the most time pressing tab, auto attack.

Ok, let me breakdown how the Dev team brainstormed this: Chris- "Ok, so the community wants a skill based system, similar to UO. Any idea on amount to skills per character?" DEV2- "So we are thinking direct use to gain method....should we make crafting take up character skill pts or keep it separate?" DEV3- "Well how will the gain be determined? RNG? Max amount you can gain daily?" DEV4- "should we have an 8x8 method?" DEV5 - "Plus, you will need to scale up as u gain in skill, the higher your skill in swords may require a tougher foe to gain" Chris - "You know what? I got a fucking headache already...scrap the whole thing, make it levels, you can do whatever the fuck you want to gain EXP and unlock pts to place into skill trees" "Nice and simple"....Ok lets talk about the card combat.... DEV1- "Wait ! what does RG think? Chris- "No clue, but he's using the fucking robot again and I bet he's trapped himself in the bathroom for the 5th time this week"

I just want to say, to nobody in particular, I hate those fucking hats.... hate them with a goddamn passion: www.shroudoftheavatar.com/forum/index.php?threads/rare-hats-data-revealed-in-the-r15-hangout.23063/(unsuccessfully trying to get one of those hats through support, after I couldn't log in to R10, was one of my first non-Joseph CS experiences... and it was after my request was handled so terribly, and with no follow-up, that I lost all confidence in support tickets being handled correctly and found myself beyond irritated at Portalarium's shit attitude... it only took this, the bank slot bullshit, and the steam review request to tilt me back over to the " dark side") ^if they can't get a fucking hat sent to the right account, how can I ever trust them to split my pledge up into smaller pieces so I could sell them via LA easier -- or to make a half decent game, for that matter! ...and that fails to cover my initial complaint about the stupidity of offering an exclusive/rare/time limited item on a pre-alpha build (that is not stable/useable for everybody) and then offering a terrible path for "help" to those who give enough of a shit about these hats to email support bug reports. P.S. I'd love to post a lot of specifics about how poorly Portalarium handled R10 and the hats, but I can't look back that far on their forum (and my post history cuts off after a certain date). Maybe that is always something their forum has done, or it is new, but during R10 (when the first hat was offered) MANY players took to the forums to complain about not being able to get the item because they couldn't log in (or certain scenes would always crash or would not load). Starr's compromise between the assholes who probably dream of selling their hat for $1k real money (so fuck all the ppl who couldn't log in!), and all those who wanted the item -- but couldn't get it, was to ask us to "submit bug reports to support to prove you tried to log in, and then we will credit your account with the hat." So, like a good little doggie, I sent FL 2 bug reports from 2 separate crashes and a long diatribe about what a bad idea it is to release an unstable build, put a time limited reward in it, and then expect people who can't log in to somehow find Starr's post (on a forum they might not read) so that they *might* know they need to submit bug reports <--- IF they even know how to do that (which a lot of people don't, tbh).... Ultimately, I thought that the hats were always stupid (and I doubt they will have much real value), and I felt ridiculous even logging in to try for one (let alone jump through all of these hoops of emails and shit to have one credited to my account), but during that particular release, I had tried to earnestly log in (and get one) just for the hell of it, and it pissed me off to leave a goal unfulfilled. That's just part of my personality... no matter how stupid or arbitrary the goal, once I've set it, I go hard for it and if I fail, it bugs me. So, when Starr offered a band-aid solution to a fucked up problem, against my better judgment, I contacted support and jumped through the bug submitting hoops, only to find I had sent the shit from the wrong email and FL just kinda went silent after I point out that fact (and I gave up out of frustration and disgust at this point because, after an 8 email long thread and several posts in the forum about this, I was SICK of dealing with it... especially considering how little value I actually placed on such a stupid item and how dumb I felt giving a fuck about an item like this in a game like this...). TL;DR -- Terrible support experience for a terrible game with clueless devs who implement half-baked design choices (without an ounce of forethought into how the game's pre-alpha state might negatively impact some of the tryhards who really are gung-ho about acquiring all of these "rare" items but can't log in because.... reasons). Also, I'm a fucking idiot for trying for one of those hats and so is everybody else who tries for them. Anybody who has one of those hats and wears it (without irony) is an enemy of the State of Kunostan and will pay a terrible price when apprehended. You've been warned, bitches.
