He might've just deleted it himself. I know he self-edits/deletes his stuff after posting it sometimes. He might've worried it would invite people trashing the game's placeholder AI.
Deleted it myself.
I had the feeling it went the wrong direction. - it was about to directly go to the usual PvP vs PvE discussion.
I basically asked myself when a Game is still a "Game".
And one aspect for this is for me a "challenge" or the willingness to accept "setbacks".
I asked myself if this hole PvP vs PvE discussion is actually the real "foundation" of difference between playing style.
If i take the PvP out of the topic i thought i can find out more about what PvE players really mean. They use the word "PvP, or PK" has more behind the motivation being against it.
And i in fact i believe that the motivation being against PvP has nothing to do about a "Human" that interrupts someones gaming , or has not much to do about the hole
"humiliation" argument.
The truth is that we have Gamers who do not wan´t any kind of setbacks, no risk, no danger nothing. And for me a learning moment.
The Solo Game Fans of Ultimas are mainly players who , play alone. Want to enjoy a game like a book.
For some it seem that a wonderful story, or a social platform is already enough to be happy in Shroud of the Avatar.
They are looking for a "Shroud of the Avatar Social Facebook".
I would have wanted to go further discussing this with them. I wanted to ask when a Game is still a Game?
A book may have a good story, just as a game, but for me it is still a book.
Maybe a interactive Story feels like a game, but they still have situations included that include death if you choose the wrong patch.
Telltale Games is wonderful in creating a "Story", or is it a "Game". Discussable.
This is not a Game, but for some it might be. For me not:
IMVU:
www.imvu.com/signup/index/?avset=bubbles&affid=cd56&subid2=0k2vkuff_265_44311056&subid1=TeensPMainIf we do a party in Shroud of the Avatar - then during that party we could discuss that SotA is during the party "not a game we play".
During that time it is a platform like Facebook. Just interactive. )
If i join a PvP Tournament in the Game - then the Tournament itself is for me the "Game" - hense the Platform the tournament is taking place of the World Shroud of the Avatar is
"Social - non gaming" at that moment.
But still the tools they created to perform the PvP are for Gaming.
Well maybe you find me all crazy what my brain is playing with. But that is what i am doing.
But to sum it up. I am looking forward to Chris posting his "Risk,Reward"
I myself want setbacks, challenges , getting lost etc. I want to get lootet.
Not because i like to do this to others. But i am also a Customer of the SotA product.
I may be far more careful and mindfull how i interact within the community and with the Developers.
Because i still am thankful about what i did get out of the Development and the process.
So hopefully some of this will come to SotA also.I did get alot out of it, compared to some others. Maybe the way i interact. The not throwing a brickstone. I play with Girl Avatars... jup i am a softball... not a hardball for sure.
And to be honest. Back at Ultima Online they did decide that they need to make Trammel and Feluccia. If they did find the Pre Trammel time back then not OK , why should they ever
have planned to include this in Shroud of the Avatar. They did find it wrong back then, we would have never gotten a Full Loot world.
But i still have a little hope that we might be able to loot one item.
Myrcello.
For me there needs to be first the basic concept of a game - Rules, Challenges , Obstacles to overcome.
And then i talk about a game.
This includes dangers, a enemy that challenges me, a NPC that keeps me on my toes and a strategy i have to have.
But my own emotion did lead the thread the wrong way. I did unintentionally critizise a player. What was not the idea about it.
So i deleted it.
