So I sold off my RF Lord Marshall and POT almost a month ago. I sold it under an alt account, and it went within 24 hours. I guess I'm happy about the decision. Overall I think I'm more disappointed than anything.
I spare most of the details of why I made the decision; everyone that hangs around this forum knows the game as intimately as I do. In the beginning, I likely had unrealistic expectations stemmed from nostalgia. Towards the end of my adventure, I had trouble seeing the original vision in the current implementation, and honestly I struggled to maintain interest in the game as it exists now. Perhaps if I were retired and had more time, the house decorating and community/social aspect of the game would have been enough. I've been away from the forums since I sold my account. I'm surprised to hear The Mad Hermit and Blake Blackstone are leaving. Sad times. I'll probably check in from time to time; it will be interesting to see this game evolves.

Out of curiousity, and feel free to not answer this if you'd rather not, was your account purchased by an existing backer? Sorry it didn't work out for you in the end. Its a lot of money to invest and reflects the level of excitement people had for the game. Hearing that go away for people is saddening.

Was your forum account name the same as here? You don't have to answer. I'm just curious if I knew you over there.

In the beginning, I likely had unrealistic expectations stemmed from nostalgia. As have all of us here. In fact, those who are younger and buy the game, they don't stick around because they have no nostalgia or previous experience with any of the Ultima games. They're the ones that disappear quietly. It's those of us who have been avid fans that have stuck around, even in our criticism because it's been hard seeing a dream die.

The nostalgia was powerful with SotA.

You lasted a long while and that is commendable TrollGuy, I am sure most of the people who were nostalgic for Ultima have been feeling the same way. We've gone from a Single Player Ultima game into a standard extended perpetual development MMO where people will no doubt end up battling from their wallets. This is sad indeed, I dreamt of a new Ultima for 15 years, and when it arrives it isn't Ultima at all!

He probably wouldn't care, but it's not my place to say who.

I will be getting into it soon actually. It all seems a bit more logical and straight forward.

I was just curious as most high dollar accounts seem to be gobbled up by existing high dollar backers.

I guess I'm liking the game. :-) The truth is that alpha13 of 7 Days to Die just released and I'm knee-deep in zombie corpses. EDIT: Just realized the words 'zombie' and 'corpses' together are somewhat redundant.

EDIT: Just realized the words 'zombie' and 'corpses' together are somewhat redundant. I was merely pointing out that Shards stands in SOTA territory being prepared alpha and such. It's another risk. Others have then brought up other games again in an alpha. Albion is in close beta with a small buy in that's is actually quite fun and cabbie played as casual or hardcore as you like. It's making progress and has already reworked some things. I just think if you are after an experience Albion has at least shown progress and promise. I'm not saying it's everyone cup of tea but it's a better bet. Shards screenshot haven't been updated and looks like a clash of design. Ie I see first person and isometric views Fossil grimy and I are all on Albion
