I have a need to hammer on this subject, as the only voice over at Shroud is (pretty much) majoria, who wants to play sexy dress-up in the game, and men. A woman looking sexy can be done with class. But to model it after what I would akin to Barbie (not even Victoria's Secret), is offensive. What are they trying to say with that? Here are a series of images that could have been designed in similar fashion in the game. Or better yet, allow crafters to make things like this. With no stats, and pure visual effects - and not worn over armor. And to be clear, I think this stuff is unnecessary altogether, but if they're going to do it, they should be doing it in the least offensive way. Also note: every one of these paper dolls in the game look pretty much the same, and with perfect figures, which can be considered offensive to a lot of women, even those that have good figures. I'm only trying to convey the way a Christmas wardrobe could be designed, rather than, seriously? A corset? And yet, this is the crap the male designers give us. Not that the skin is not well done. But the style. What are they trying to do? Draw more men to the game, and lonely wo/men?

Just keep in mind, neo-feminists in Germany are doing these kind of demonstrations:

Ok, so the German neo-feminists are a bit extreme. Fill me in Caliya, if you don't mind- dolls in SotA?

Ok, so the German neo-feminists are a bit extreme. Fill me in Caliya, if you don't mind- dolls in SotA? Dolls in SotA? Our own characters are called a paper doll when we dress them in armor or outfits. Dressing up a woman like that, in game, is pretty intolerable to me. One can say, let the women (or men with female characters or cross dressers) who love it, buy it, live and let live. But then I have to look at it and wonder how it improves the game or combat. As it is, some women just take off everything in the game anyway. They will find a way. But why does it always have to come down to that? I'm no prude, nor am I old fashioned or old style. I just don't think it has a real place in a game of this nature. That, and hot tubs.

Judging from the responses on the forums, it seems like more female players are asking for this kind of stuff than the male players are.
Don't get me wrong, I think its lame and doesn't belong. But I don't think this is male designers being pervs.

But I don't think this is male designers being pervs. In the threads I used to participate, it was almost entirely men voting for stuff like that, and majoria was pretty much it. If more women (there aren't many women in the forums, if they're really women) are asking for it now, I'd be a little surprised. But even if a lot of women were asking for it, why are they using development time making crap like that instead of decent and good looking armor? The stuff they have now is pretty bad. Get the infrastructure in place first. Then a couple episodes down the road, if that many women really wanted it, perhaps let them have it. Or something very nice but not on that level. But what do they do? Keep developing add-on store items that have nothing to do with the basic infrastructure.

Take a look at the armor and especially that woman's dress in this video. That's the stuff they need to be improving before adding corsets in the add-on store.
If making a corset for women is the only thing holding women's interest in the game, one has to wonder.

Generally speaking most women I know in mmo's spend far too much time worrying about what they look like or what to dress up in. It's a pride thing I get it. So ya I tend to agree that's sore on the eyes.

The Sims and SecondLife does it better. Way to suck again, SotA.

The sound effects in the video remind me of Pokemon's music (which is excellent btw).
I once dreamed a dream that SotA would be the home for a new developing music genre unique to Novia, but now that dream is gone from me.

The Sims and SecondLife does it better. Way to suck again, SotA. One might surely expect those games to have that kind of wardrobe. After game release. Not before. SotA has a history of creating things no one ever expected when they gave them money to develop a game, not a Barbie wardrobe.

Much like many other aspects of the game, I don't think it fits with the theme. I don't mean the use of soul man, but the lack of sounds that sound like actual instruments. I hoped something interesting would come out of the music capabilities of the game. Thus far, all I've seen have been rehashes of existing music. I'm guessing that will be the dominant form it takes in game.

Or better yet, allow crafters to make things like this. I think this is the main thing I would like to support here. I'm not going to make or buy these things so I'm gonna need to PK me some crafters that make them and claim the l00t. But seriously, crafting should be focused on so much more than it is. Either it isn't a priority like Player Owned Towns & Add On Store stuff or they are a LOT further behind in game creation than even I would have thought. I gave up on trying to point out the futility of this stuff long long ago in an old thread. I don't understand the need for men or women to dress up in lingerie in a game, but maybe that is my own failing and it is really popular. Still, the people in that thread and especially the men were saying things to the effect of "if I'm going to look at an ass it better be hot" - I was quite surprised by that line of thought.

What is their focus? No, I don't wanna hear the add-on store cuz I want something different to think about. We all know the under lining of most things in the game stem from that place.

I wasn't surprised. I debated with some of those guys. What right have they to control, or dictate how a woman dresses or looks? If they don't like it, find something else to do. You know, like, play the game?
