Dyes appear to be quite popular. This is going to be the next huge carebear thing. So of course, I do believe you're going to see this shit show up in the store sooner or later.
But what is that going to do to crafting?
1. Will it help crafters because crafters can wallet warrior the dyes and speed things up? Will that hurt the game because you can get rich in the game through your wallet warrioring? 2. Will it hurt crafters because then anyone can buy them and there will be no need for their services? 3. Portalarium aren't stupid enough to sell the same dyes you can attain in game for free on the add on store you foo!

I think it will hurt crafters. I also believe this to be a symptom of a larger problem in Port deciding to monetize anything crafters make popular, going forward. Free labor, exploitation of creativity, all the hits.

Instead of saying "buckets should have been something people could have crafted" they made them decorations that people could only get by faulty coding (I'm talking about UO here). When they had the next go around with "The Ultimate RPG" or whatever this bullshit's supposed to be, they purposely made the bucket, put it on the cash store and said, "You can't even attempt to get this in-game, faulty mechanics or not. Buy it with cash or GTFO."
Dyes, clothes, Christmas trees, fuck it, doesn't matter - it's all going on the cash shop and it's all bad news.

I get exclusive dyes being sold, just not the craftable ones. This idea is crossing into the pay to win realm, as it favors players with real life money an unfair supply of materials. When a game's economy and very structure is based on player crafting, it seems odd to me to demean any part of the play loop involved. If the dyes are so expensive that only the rich can buy them, then it's pay to win. If it is priced too low, then it'll kill any reason to get involved in the process of crafting dyes. What is the point of wasting time on this balancing act, particularly at this time of development? Make your money selling exclusive dye colors, and not needlessly creating and stirring the shit pot.

Ohh yeaaahh baby, gimme the dyes to make a full wardrobe of these babies. I want Shroud to be a graphic chat game, just like it is now, don't you? <snarky grin> Who cares if it affects crafters? I just want the boys to chase after me, whatever the cost. Let's not think with our wallets, m'kay?
