It kind of brings to light, how many people are active in Shroud of the Avatar at the moment... Not many, not much!
Certainly a long ways off the fan fav estimate of 300,000 to 3,000,000, roflz.

And, the usual suspects on the ever smaller council are there to immediately lap up Port's shit:

Okay, like one of those isn't exactly carrying water for Port (Edward's posts), but still funny as fuck... The few remaining people supporting this stinker of a game, who think Port can do no wrong and are motivated by selfish interests, just don't get the very well put points that Nemo made in his OP. Neither do Port, but that comes as no surprise... If I could only PM Nemo, I'd keep it to a very short and sweet: P.S. I have looked deeply into my Ornate Orb of Obfuscation and seen the likely response by the devs/DS (minus the charm and overall awesomeness that is Fagin): "When I see someone rich Both my thumbs start to itch Only to find some peace of mind I have to pick a pocket or two"

How on earth can people justify this with, "Well, it only hurts the new backers so I don't mind," and, "I didn't pledge for those things, so it's ok." The new backers are just as important, at least, as the old ones, and the principle is everything when it comes to changing what you're selling after you've already billed and sold it as something else.
To go on and say, "well they already screwed people over with the RF/F/B split, so somehow that justifies this?" is downright humorous.
Themo Lock, an individual who admittedly made quite an ass of himself in his early days on the SotA forum, goes on to explain that, "It was always going to happen, we always knew it was going to happen. Just like royal founder had more perks than founder, founder had more perks than benefactor, benefactor will now have more perks than whatever the next one is called."
If he had been around longer though, he would know that the RF/F/B split is the result of a bug, not some noble decision to provide old backers with additional value, and was not originally part of the plan. If you're one of our 100+ guests that comes by each day, hear me now. The RF/F/B split was the result of a bug which allowed people to create founder accounts after the deadline had passed. This could have been fixed, the new founder creation mechanism could have been stopped, and illegitimate founders could have been grandfathered or demoted. However, it was easier to endorse the bug and screw over the original founders, so Port did exactly that, going as far as to make a player marketplace where they took no responsibility for the third-party deals they were now requiring to become a founder. Only after great community backlash did they apologize and add the RF level to distinguish those who pledged early from those who profited on Port's unwillingness to fix their own website bugs.

Feedback requested. I am considering making my first post in a year but want to make sure it is rule-abiding, civil, and concise. Tell me what you folks think.
Hi all, first post here, sort of.
Has it been so long that we've forgotten what actually occurred with the RF/F/B split? The addition of RF was not some noble decision to preserve the old pledge values. It was an apology for selling out.
When a bug was discovered which allowed new founder pledges to be created after the deadline, pledge rates soared. Upon discovering the bug, original founders (now termed royal founders) requested that the bug be fixed in order to preserve the rarity of the founder status (exactly what you're asking folks to applaud Kendric). In the face of new pledges and money however, Portalarium decided not to fix the bug, but rather to endorse it by opening up a player marketplace in which new pledgers would be required to engage in unprotected third-party transactions in order to obtain a founder account.
This left the founder caste outraged. Feeling betrayed, they pleaded for something to give them back their distinguished status as the original founders. Only after intense pressure developed from the community, Portalarium recolored some textures and slated them to be exclusive to the original founders, who they would now call Royal Founders. This was their way of apologizing for not keeping rare items rare.

Nemo hasn't realised yet that the only people left on that forum, or I guess 19 out of 20, are just utterly disconnected from the reality and gravity of the situation.
The only reason this is taking place what so ever now of all times is that their sales are gone and everything is drying up. Here, boys, come get this fucking shit discount for your shit pledges now before its too late!

It's the same people liking the same responses to Nemo. Like the combat threads, they're voting along party lines. Too funny. Now that I have no investment in the game anymore and got my money back, it's enjoyable to just watch this crash and burn now.

That seems civil enough, but I wouldn't expect to get away posting anything over there. Port seems to be gunning for anybody who isn't part of the same crowd that likes all the same posts and congratulates all the same people for the exemplary sameness of their groupthink/herdpoisoning. I think the only reason Nemo's thread has remained open (and hasn't earned the wrath of the devs) is because it's the weekend and the devs are normally MIA on the weekend (mod presence seems greatly reduced on weekends too).

If it was me in their shoes, I'd be alarmed that Port is even slightly moving toward considering the game feature complete given the fact that sooooo much stuff still remains to be seen as far as the core game goes. I also don't understand why they are so sure that changes like this ensures the rarity of their pledge items and "increases the values" of their pledges. DON'T YOU FUCKNUTS UNDERSTAND THAT IF NOBODY WANTS TO PLAY THIS SHITTY GAME BECAUSE IT IS PLAGUED BY GREEDY BULLSHIT AT EVERY TURN, YOUR PLEDGES AND "RARES" AREN'T GOING TO BE WORTH SHIT REGARDLESS OF HOW "RARE" YOU THINK THEY ARE?These mofo's are dumber than a box of rocks =/

Another great post by Nemo in this thread and now the gloves come off as the nasty community shows its true colors: www.shroudoftheavatar.com/forum/index.php?threads/pledge-expiration-im-sorry-but-it-has-to-be-said.33755/page-2Even some snarkily asking if he's IMs alt account, or if they can have his stuff if he quits. Katrina Bekers being a twat too... Enjoy it while you can because it's likely to be locked/cleaned up/deleted and I won't be copying and pasting this time like I did before (to preserve for posterity) considering how poorly my previous posts on the matter were received in light of the time/effort it took to do that...

That Russian music was good.
The second clip was good (but ruined at the end with boring romance scenes).

That Russian music was good. The second clip was good (but ruined at the end with boring romance scenes). I havent even warched the clip. The first song is called "The Lord of the Mountain Roads" and was written under the influence of her husbands death in the mountains. The second is called "The Serpent's Bride" and is about a girl who is taken by the serpent king to become his bride.

How has Nemo not gone postal on them, yet? Poor guy is a bear in the middle of a pack of hungry, delusional wolves.

Poor guy is a bear in the middle of a pack of hungry, delusional wolves. Exactly. Spoon i just want to bitch-slap him into his next lifetime. Bowen needs a sucker-punch to the face. What a miserable little twat. Caliya somewhat comes to the defense, but will probably get roasted fairly quickly. As a community, those morons are perfectly willing to engage in the same repression - or worse - as any of the people they are denouncing as "misguided" or evil. Because "our side" is good, the ends justifies the means. And their condecending behavior is so easily triggered and runs so deep it becomes life consuming. Even when a person is no longer a threat to their elitist fantasy world they continue to engage in it. Fuck-wits all around.

Caliya I've seen in other posts with her own opinions, which is good. My concern (albeit a loose definition of the word) is that now that the fanatics and extremists are gone (ie, many of us), everything else will be relative. A voice of reason but a voice of dissent nonetheless will become as infamously branded and mercilessly attacked as someone like me on the combat discussion.
I wouldn't be surprised if the Nemos and Caliyas of SotA will be the next to face the pyres, long before the SotA community realizes they are immolating their own.

I don't really know what he is bitching about, unless I am missing something?? It seems he is complaining for people who haven't yet backed the game, that in the future they won't have the same tier/physical rewards that people did two years ago when they backed? Technically if you ask me, all of the tiers should have been shut down after Kickstarter, so I can't share Nemo's rage. My rage starts long before his on this

It seems he is complaining for people who haven't yet backed the game, that in the future they won't have the same tier/physical rewards that people did two years ago when they backed? Technically if you ask me, all of the tiers should have been shut down after Kickstarter, so I can't share Nemo's rage. My rage starts long before his on this Yeah I just took it as a post stating that the mindset of the high level backers, and port's emphasis on stressing the need for people to upgrade now before it is too late, would just turn off even more people to the game in the long-term. I think he was making the point that the game has an image problem with the average gamer because of these crazy price tags, and that the 10% bonus and recent emphasis that more rewards were going away struck him as more pressure to tighten the screws on those who have already backed at amounts that are higher than is normal for most games (and reinforces the mentality among the backers that those who come after them deserve to be paupers compared to them). I guess that's fair that they phase out certain pledge rewards and add-on items, considering how it was sold during KS and emphasized rares, but I took Nemo's post to just be a call out to any sane people left that Port is never going to back away from this style of funding (and will keep targeting whales), ensuring the typical person will never want a damn thing to do with this game. He just seemed upset because he probably has friends that he wishes would consider playing, but they can see through their love of RG/Ultima/UO, so his frustration boiled over when yet again, Port pushes to draw a little more blood from the few turnips who haven't ran for the hills. I also copy and pasted responses to him because I knew the "community" was going to savage him. Kudos for Caliya for saying mostly what I thought on the matter (echoing Nemo's sentiments that this game is never going to appeal to your typical gamer considering its price point and the snobby community members who trash anybody who doesn't accept it unconditionally). For fear of writing to much, I'll leave it at this. Not planning on writing very much more here or following this shitty game anymore. I've said my piece about it a few times and it just gets repetitive and I feel like I even ignore my own posts after awhile.... I will keep an eye on the Steam boards and reviews and have my own little celebration when it finally dips into the "mixed" ranged. And with that, I'll leave you all to it, with many warm wishes that you find a suitable home in one of the new games on the horizon (e.g., Albion Online, No Man's Sky, Shards Online, etc.).
