Seems they increased the cost of skills...100x Which prompted one player to say what I was thinking: I'm looking forward to all the crying on the forums. This is going to be glorious!

So just out of curiosity, has the combat improved because I don't even bother installing the game each release to even test it anymore?
Clunky? Animations? Overall feel? Or the same ole same ole?
Thanks, Foss

Thanks, Foss Don't bother. The combat is still horrible. And it now it will cost you a fortune just to skill up to use a horrible system. Biggest waste of time...ever. I am firmly convinced at this point that Richard, Starr, and Chris have no fucking idea how to build a game. This confirms my suspicion that all three have been nothing more than office-dwelling gaming industry pseudo-celebrities and offer nothing more valuable than fap-time for a bunch clueless groupies. Dallas, I have no idea. He seems to be nothing more than road-kill in the process. I really need to find a victim willing to buy my $800 pledge. Fast.

Good job, slowbro, I knew that the instance I saw that random card systems. That's the most idiotic and counter-intuitive idea I've seen in gamedev so far. That's absolutely dumb and horrible.
Even I am a 100 times better game designed than they are.

It's pretty obvious to anyone who searches your many aliases on the net that you live in a fantasy world. Who would be so paranoid to leave fake details on so many gaming forums. Do you do anything else but play games with your imaginary online friends? I bet you are really popular in the real world, too. What a hateful little man you are. I can't wait for your reply.

This is a pretty typical issue in non-release games where nothing is fixed. They entice people in to test, and slowly jack up the cost of shit in-game, then offer direct pay options for real $ to get to where you want to be quicker. Pretty greedy, and key here is non-release, but it isn't atypical.
Always surprises me however that nobody seems to think about how it is going to effect their testers when they do things like this. Remove the feature where gamers get something for nothing and you'll always have an outcry, no matter what state the game is in.
I suppose in Starr's dream land, he made the appropriate announcements through is ecosystem and everyone was ok with it.

At "Grimie", I figured he was just trying to rustle jimmies, but then he got serious and I realized it was our friend, guest. Fortunately, I picked up popcorn before heading to the forums. Edna my boy, what's got you upset? Nobody has found Grim's aliases on the Internet and you only know of them because you have a history with him. You can hate him if you please. There's no moderation here so that's fine. But why not take a break from the darkside, sit down, and have a nice cup of coffee with Sp Insane Membrane and company? If you'd like, I'm sure Kuno will send you a mug.

It's painful enough to know that I cast such pearls before swine ( while I still go barefoot). So, no mugs, hugs, or drugs for anybody now. I am a shell of my formerly hopeful self and will now endeavor to inspire no more, forever....

I didn't start playing MMOs until I was 38 (1997 - Ultima Online). I think it worked out better that way. Kids were grown and in college and my wife and I had lots of free time. We didn't have to balance gaming with other family responsibilities because we had already done that. :-) She plays WoW. I don't. We have different tastes in MMOs. She does love her PvP though. It's amusing to watch a 54-year old woman sitting at her computer screaming, "Die Motherfucker, Die!"

Not surprising to see that lock given their history of tomfoolery, but even so, wow.... just wow. People were relatively civil. Most of the points raised were fairly sensible. And it's locked with a reminder about the virtues and being respectful? WTF... Either there were some bad posts removed, or Port really are so thin-skinned they can't handle even the most milquetoast of complaints. I think we all know which is the most likely of the two scenarios. The cynic in me believes this is just another step in the development of any "freemium" game where certain things are made so grindy and unenjoyable that the player is compelled to spend real $'s to skip the grind. Not sure how Port would pull it off, but I wouldn't put it past them to intend to sell some add-on store "FREE" lifetime skill changes feature down the road (right along with bank slots and forum access). As much as people hate GW2, at least that game did a LOT to address the annoyance of resetting skills, banking across multiple characters, etc. I really feel for the people who were interested in SotA from a SP perspective. It's very clearly all about the MMO b.s. now (and not even the "good" stuff from MMO's... it's like they are cherry-picking all of the most annoying and problematic features). I couldn't believe Chris' ignorance when he said when is the time to balance the economy if not now. I forget who responded to him, but they put it perfectly when they said the time to balance this shit is when other major components like crafting and player vendors were more robust. How the fuck Port and Chris thought these changes were a good idea blows me away. I also love him citing the gold per player average as justification for pricing the skill changes that way, then later admitting that some players are extreme outliers who fuck up the curve (because they are exploiting certain zones/mobs that have been a known issue for awhile). Watching their development process reminds me of watching some rudderless boat just lurching around in the water, seemingly "moving forward", but in fact just careening around the waterway dangerously and very likely to end in a beaching/wreck/disaster. Behold the "RMS SotA," LB's unsinkable cash extraction machine!
