Although Early Access is a trend that a lot of people are fed up with - I confess that I jumped on the hypetrain the last couple of years and bought/backed many games that are EA or are in 'pre-alpha' state. I followed their progress and I still do because this kind of stuff interest me. The development progress of SotA is also one of them but we all know that Portalarium is doing everything wrong what can go wrong - If there were awards for 'Worst decisions in gameplay' they would definitely win it because I haven't seen such a shitty game like SotA in a long time. I see many other game companies doing a better job and Facepunch Studios is one of them. They are the creators of Garrys Mod and now they are working on the game Rust (which is currently in Alpha state). The reason why I make this thread is because I have doubts about Portalarium's way of understanding the current gaming industry. I think they are way behind with everything and play too safe with every aspect of marketing and gameplay decisions. Portalarium is too focused in pleasing carebears and trying to earn money with ingame items - I don't think this will work in the long run. Facepunch is the opposite: They don't listen to carebears, they're not afraid to make risky decisions and they actually respond to their community. Today Garry of Facepunch made a blogpost about marketing your game. Maybe Portalarium should read it carefully and learn from it: www.facepunchstudios.com/2015/05/16/marketing-your-game/To get this thread starting, which game company do you think are doing a great job so far? What kind of advice do you want to give Portalarium so they (hopefully) do it better next time?

The book 'Rework' (linked at the end of the article) is brilliant. I highly recommend it.
