In a couple releases ago, there was a hat quest at the top of a mountain, that there was some sort of dragon thingie- a wyvern maybe (that's how much attention I paid, I don't even remember because I didn't even care). And they made it way too powerful and it targeted a player through everything - rocks, you name it, from vast distances. You couldn't sneak even if you wanted to. It was stupid. Right at Alpha release, there was the trial dungeon thingy, and I remember that the Skeletons on the ledges would freeze up if you stood beneath the ledge, because they wanted to attack you but couldn't path find down the steps to get back into range... my suspicion is that there's still no real path finding or Line of Sight calculations on the mobs, so they're triggered by just a distance radius, and the Phoenix was given a huge one, if what you say is true. Balancing the strength of Mobs is tough though, if you don't have the number of actual players to throw at it; you can't just boost yourself up to the equivalent of 100 players because you're still only dealing damage from one source, you really do need the 100 individual players. That's why EM bosses on Ultima Online are so hit and miss; you have to try and guess what something is like without being able to test it, as there aren't enough staff on contract even if they could make it to Test Centre even if you could round them all up (and you're not given the final boss until the day anyway, so you can't pinch all the rares by killing it yourself). And here's where Shroud is locked into the death spiral, because Portalarium don't have enough players to really fill a zone or make a true raiding boss, so it'll be scaled back to the level of 1-5 players say, because that's all they can expect now and it couldn't be beaten if it wasn't so scaled. Which means, at launch, the game is going to have no content for bigger groups, so it won't attract bigger groups, which means...

I haven't checked to see, but at least as recent as a couple releases ago, I could jump on top of a very small rock and creatures would instantly return to their start point. I think they've tried resolving this by making it so you don't have to jump on rocks, you can walk up them. Not really a fix if that's what they did.
People were complaining about line of sight a lot. Dunno if they still are.

Ok, Part 2 in the process of being constructed; just spent more than an hour trying to make a plate of food, good god crafting is miserable still! And I do get sort of attacked by players, but I think they were just being silly... at least, I hope so, otherwise it's an embarrassing performance all round! I think the second video will have to focus purely on the horror show that is crafting as even trying to speed it up it's just so, so terrible and reveals so many different bad design choices I don't think I can trim it down much further... into the editing we go then!

I'm unreasonably anxious for Part 2. Part 1 was a joy, I wished it lasted longer.

But... it's about crafting, hours and hours of TEDIUM! God it'll be tough to keep it interesting, but I'll try for you all... The main thing I tookaway from Pt. 1 was that the game was virtually without game. Almost everything that you did in that video was boring. That's what made it such fun to watch. In part, we're enjoying watching you suffer for our entertainment.

Nemo you kind of remind me of a Naval officer I hear they get guys together and toss them a tennis ball or an object, and you're drill is to talk about that tennis ball for 20 mins. So you learn how to just casually make conversation and keep getting better and better at it.

As opposed to Fremdscham, which is what you feel when you read Update of the Avatar.

But... it's about crafting, hours and hours of TEDIUM! God it'll be tough to keep it interesting, but I'll try for you all... It's easy to make a game seem like it has a lot of content if you make the grind and farming a full time job and a half. Would be interesting to see if they did like an x1000 on gathering and crafting, maybe even xp. At that point you might see how much or how little game there actually is.

Ok you bunch of tennis balls, I get a day off tomorrow, so I shall try and work on the audio again... Here's a sneak peak, I set out to make a cutlass (pirates like cutlasses), then find I have 2% chance to actually mine iron in my chosen zone, and give up. But first... yakety sax!

I DON'T UNDERSTAND THE PVP RULES
And the FAQ links to a thread that hasn't been updated in 15 months. Working a bit on narration, I want the criticism to be accurate as usual, can one of you 1337 |)3\/\/|)z answer the following for me;
1.) Someone isn't pvp flagged, but once I am, he casts something which may be a buff (it seems to do no damage) and then he becomes so; is the PvP flag hidden at first, triggered on an attack, or (foolishly, but let's not put it past these coding Gods) triggered by heal or buffing someone in Open PvP too?
2.) Are there any looting rules in game yet?
3.) What would be a fair summation of the variety of PvP?

No idea what the flagging rules are, but I know there was a thread awhile back referenced on these forums about how Chris was making them weird. shroudunlimited.boards.net/thread/568/guild-pvp-exploit-bad-mechanics2.) Are there any looting rules in game yet? Last I heard, ransoming wasn't in yet. 3.) What would be a fair summation of the variety of PvP? Envy and Themo.
