Hello all, I've been away for a while building a new PC; all kinds of funky issues with it so far, but I had the idea to take advantage of having a low end and a high end system at the same time to compare Shroud on the different hardware and take my first crack at a video review. (Link Here: tinyurl.com/p2latsz)The first part, is 45 minutes long so far and covers what pledges are, shows a baseline performance comparison to Skyrim, then character creation, tutorial, running over to Ardoris, pointing out some of the real cash costs for items I see, then wandering around an empty ship. My voice is geeky and gravelly (getting over a cold) so I'll try and improve that second time out... but my question for you lot is, what do you think would be best served in the second part to show people? Not necessarily critical, I'm trying to make it a fair review and let the criticism seem more relevant in turn; But what exciting is there to do? What do you think people need to know about the game? Give me your ideas! I don't normally PvP but if one of you wanted to gank me in game to show it's *ahem* awesome nature, I'd be up for that. (Might still need processing time, be kind you buggers)

I tip my hat to you sir and if you need any help, let me know. I think you'll do a fine job on covering the issues surrounding the game.

I think one of the most important things to tell everyone is that unless you're placing your house in a player owned town which is fraught with possible issues & abuse, there is no clear plan on how to handle it in NPC towns. Nobody has a final answer, price values, or process on how houses can be bought and placed without spending real cash on them.

I do know where the current sellers are, but it's not exactly clear in game; I can probably add a discussion of this during the long time I'm wandering Ardoris trying to find something to look at. It takes nearly 40 minutes to pass the tutorial, immediately leave Soltown and head to Ardoris, and find one ship; in that time I fight (and break, that should make you laugh, if my voice bores you ) one Strawman target, a skeleton, and run away from some wolves. THE EXCITEMENT. I don't think I'd realised quite how boring the game is until I recorded myself in it.

Unfortunately I don't have the money to spend in the store to buy the cup. And the girls will probably be men roleplaying I'm afraid.

Also maybe have a timer running during gameplay to show the sink it takes for little outcome. Especially if you want to go explore, but the whole exploring thing is done weird in this game... maybe because of the overview map, I'm not sure. Every time I fire this game up feels like 3-4 hours roll by before I have even accomplished anything of value. Which is sad because I know what I'm doing. It's a struggle on boredom.

That's something I will certainly use, have to learn how to over lay a timer on the video though! Just narrating still now, gawd I'm slow at this...

I find I cannot narrate at all. I have to talk while playing, else I am sort of lost for words and forget wtf I was even doing!

It's taking me a while for the first part as I want to try and sync the details to what's happening on screen, I feel it'll have more impact if people can see what I'm spotting as I go; it's just I hate my speaking voice Should have the first part done later today, hopefully!

Please attend a party where everyone stands around and dances but uses their teamspeaks to communicate. I would hate for you to miss the RP in your expose.

*rubs eyes* Hell this recording lark is slow for me; I did 4 hours on it yesterday, started with 15 minutes of in game time to finish of, ended up adding more narration about why the funding model sucks, googled for supporting images, got ready to switch off for the night and... I somehow STILL had 15 minutes of in game time to narrate!
All good ideas folks, but here's the thing that's emerged as I catch up; the game is crushingly slow to do anything at all. I'm thinking even to get to an event is going require nearly an hours travel from Ardoris. The 15 minutes of time I have to narrate is just me looking at a few houses, and then trying to find a ship (the player base has all vanished) and finally discovering I can't even sleep on someone's bed. Dull, dull, DULL!
Right, starting again, must get this first try done at least!

nemolives isn't there some form of fast travel or something possible in pre-alpha? My guess is if you contacted someone in game that was hosting an event and asked if you could zone to them, that'd get you there. I know there's a way to do it, I just don't know how. The NBNN guys used it to have a guy show them a tour of their PoT so its definitely possible.

I believe you could friend someone, and then type "/zone name" to get to them? But it's been a while and I don't know anyone who plays, he he.
Just converting project to movie, it's pretty detail heavy, comes in at just under an hour, some jokes in there but my delivery is way off due to cold and not having done this before. Be interesting to see what you all think!

Right you cads and bounders, it's up; starts off slow, because I try and explain the wider pledge nonsense first; the skyrim comparison is also to subtly indicate the rather large difference in gameplay quality between the games, he he. Be gentle, if you can get through it all that is... Some of your suggestions are already in there

Damnable Youtube! It flicked it over to Private after I went to bed... it SHOULD be active now! I really like your voice lol It's ok, be honest, I don't bloody like it at all Timing's off on a few clips too, only by a split second or so, but enough to annoy me into reuploading it now Voice gets more confident towards the end, and not as bunged up, so the second video will be more in that style. Thoughts though? I know what I don't like about it, but I'm a poor judge of what others find useful... Gave you lot two shout outs to direct more traffic here, he he...
