I gave that thread a gander and although reasons weren't mentioned for a lock, the reasons behind the locking are obvious enough. It devolved into bickering, claims of trolling, and hardcore/carebear elitism (filthy casuals). The thread never got past the argument of whether or not death magic is OP, so the topic of how to fix the suspected imbalance could not be discussed. Hence, off-topic and locked. I'd like to think that a new thread could be made about whether or not death magic was OP without being locked, but I can't be sure since the reason for moderation was not given.
I'm beginning to wonder if there is a different reason behind some of these moderations, since this thread had ample justification for locking, and yet there still was no explanation from a moderator.

Probably simple unprofessional-ism is at cause for no explanation. It is hard to post on that Forum, we all know this. Baron D is starting to find this out for himself for the first time perhaps? I am not sure how he feels, but he should be starting to now feel like the rest of us. He was mercilessly ignored and had his thread derailed by Themo and Co. because they can't even accept the premise of Baron D's point of view. Why? He doesn't test combat as much as them, and they have the inside fucking story. ^ That. That is the shit that I could see coming in '13. When you get special people chosen by the Devs who weren't vetted properly by anyone or anything, like Themo there with the combat stuff, they are going to Lord themselves over the community and cause those sorts of problems. See Stanford Prison Experiment. So yeah, it is hard to have a point of view on SotA forum when you are wrong even before you make the post.
