Yes, you read that right; they're launching the game next month, and are begging for pure investment funding because their financial assets have collapsed to the point that even with the recent telethon, they can't survive much beyond 2 months. And you just have to read all the claims they make about the game to try and sell it to investors... most of the listed features don't even exist!
Looks like the end of this whole sorry saga may come much, much sooner than we suspected.
You HAVE to follow the Shroud Reddit now... it's starting to explode, Kotaku, Gamasutra, the wider media is noticing at last and linking back to us there, the steam reviews, the whole enchilada of criticism is finally being addressed and Shroud is getting SLAUGHTERED.
As we all knew it would; look, Porty, we tried to warn you years ago that even if you got the money in by appealing to rich elitists, you were killing your game long term, even IF you sorted out all the systems and gameplay problems. And you couldn't even do that. Don't blame us for this result, we wanted you to avoid it... YOU embraced it.
And now, at last, it looks like it's finally going to come to an end. Do the decent thing and let it die with as much grace as you can.
Maybe release the server code so people can run it privately?
I just posted quotes from their "seed invest" website in the other thread on this forum
What idiots would actually invest?
The same idiots as always of course; it's going to be interesting though to see what effect it has on the monthly telethons, as it'll show whether there's any room to expand on the take from the same Whales, or if they've reached the limits of their funds or patience. What's already visibly happening though is a massive push towards trying to spin the media, including Reddit, and an incredible amount of effort from the community to keep their binkie alive for just a little bit longer...
