They were not forced to refund the money. They voluntarily did so. Also, the argument is completely different. SC has an explicit agreement that backers could get refunds if the project exceeded the projected 18 months, then altered the agreement after the fact. Pushback on SC is because of them violating the terms of that initial agreement. Portalarium has, from the outset, said all backer funds were non-refundable.

lol they begrudgingly gave the money back. one thing we can count on with portalarium is them to be colossal faggots with lawyering backers with actual lawyers if such a case were to occur. I am talking about the court of public opinion and forcing them to do the right thing just like star citizen....begrudgingly.

They were not forced to refund the money. How do you figure? The guy hired an attorney to force them to give him a refund. What do you consider "force?"

They opted to do it, however begrudgingly and regardless of who contacted them. If the matter were settled legally, they'd have been forced.

Did one of you post it on the SotA forums?
I saw a thread in General Discussion and five minutes later, it was completely gone. Didn't catch the posters name.

Just because it may not have actually gone to court with a court decision does not mean they were not forced. It should never have gone as far as it did, and that alone shows they were forced or else, the ultimatum was obviously take them to court. If a legal decision had been made on the matter, they would have been forced to pay back every customer who was in the same situation, so they opted to take the less painful route. That is force in my opinion, and I'm sticking to it.

Berek relocated the thread to the forum that is for other games and retitled it with something that he felt better reflected the content of the post.

I'd probably use pressured rather than forced as they could have opted to fight in court, but court costs and the potential to lose probably impacted their decision. I'm more or less in agreement with you overall though. Not a good look to have to have it taken to that point.
