"All I'm saying here is that I've decided to play the story offline, and don't need this level of pledge to do that. Surely, there's a MMO/Guild person that could put the pledge to good use. "
Or maybe not, as there's hardly anyone left who believes; well, except ENVY there trolling merrily away as usual. Keeps him distracted from just how wrong his predictions have turned out though, I suppose...

Duke Avery is abandoning a Royal Founder Duke with Holdfast today too... It's almost as if a number of backers realise the coming land rush is the last chance they have to get out without losing thousands of dollars as the accounts aren't holding value at all. I take no pleasure in that, most of those names I seem to recall being decent people. What an ignominious end to Shroud though, and one Portalarium were warned again and again would like occur but didn't or couldn't avoid...

8! Aha-ha-ha! EIGHT screengrabs of add ons! People can spend their money where they wish, but if I see that level of micro-transactions, my first thought would be "That isn't a healthy model for a game, or an individual"; but apparently reading the article on Eurogamer about Lionhead Studios, the idea of "Game as service" seems to have taken over the entire industry around 2012 or so, sigh.

I agree completely. Not healthy for the individual or the game developer. It enables shitty behavior in each. I wonder deep down what some of these guys in Port really think about this microtransaction/crowdfunding shit.

Things Lum has said regarding microtransactions:
In response to Blizzard selling a $25 cosmetic horse mount for real money, Lum made a lost on his blog that is summarised in the quote below. I could no longer find the original piece that Lum wrote which was entitled 'My God it's Full of Stars and Money'
Just to point out, Lum's article was actually pointing to a mount sold by blizzard as buying in-game power, the sort of arguments used often to describe housing in SotA.

Lum's article only hints at a blurring of the lines between usable in game items that are something other than cosmetic in nature, I found the very short and really not even worth reading article here
