All forums have a sort of life cycle:
1) in the beginning a forum may never get enough knowledgeable contributing members to ever achieve any value. They say the average is 1 person in 250 will take the time to register and contribute to a forum. Take a guess how many become ‘valuable’ members.
2) As a forum matures and gained enough momentum if they (perhaps 150 active members) who read and post a forum can become can be quite valuable. By this time there’s is a sizeable interest and a relatively large repository of relation information and intelligent discussions
3) Forums begin experiencing growing pains. As the active user base reached 1000 members a divide forms There are now two distinct groups of people 'newbies' and 'veterans.' The vets begin creating FAQs and keep instruct newbies to RTFM and read the FAQ.
4) Ultimately, the vets quit reading and posting. The forum is composed of lots of ‘newbies’ who don't know much about the subject of the forum. The vets who know have dropped out. Soon there are no authorities and the forum grows silent and useless.
Simply put most things that begin good become victims of their own success

By the way.
I forwarded this lifecycle example once upon a time to a well known Community Manager asking for opinion.
She disagreed to some degree comparing a Forum like waves moving into the beach. Old members leave but new waves come in changing the Forum Community again and again. And the job of the Forum Manager is ... Crap i need to dig it out. I think she said being a life guard and a park ranger and balance or something of every wave.
But need to dig it out.

Back then i slowly was questioning the direction of forum more and more. I think thats why i asked it.
You all back then considered me rightfully a bootlicker. But i remained a open minded bootlicker

Back then i slowly was questioning the direction of forum more and more. I think thats why i asked it. You all back then considered me rightfully a bootlicker. But i remained a open minded bootlicker I never considered you that. At least not in the category of a fan, regardless of how trashy something has become. It appears there are Fans til their last breath. I'm sure they think, oh, you people just don't understand nor have faith. Again, you never struck me like that. It's one thing to be a fan of a series, and want the best and are the most hopeful. But when you discover it really isn't what it should be, you were willing to face it. And the fact you questioned RGs reputation in the industry says a lot about you.

FireLotus isn't wrong with the waves analogy though. The problem with the 4 step system outlined is that there are more groups of vets and newbies than it allows for, not to mention that newbies becomes vets. KS saw the first wave, with faces like Bowen, Owain, Mishri, and so on. There was a second wave not long after with myself, Drocis, and others toward the end of KS, and since then there has been at least 4 more waves, bringing in Envy, Ristra, Themo, Katrina, etc.
Still, I think the 4 step system is pretty close to accurate.

Well when you have posters like Drocis and Ruffis you tend to either get bootlickers there or people leave.

Well when you have posters like Drocis and Ruffis you tend to either get bootlickers there or people leave. I'm not so sure. I'm biased because Drocis and I are long-time SotA friends, but when he first started posting 10,000+ posts ago, he took a very different role in the community. People can fill different roles and different times and have varying effects on the community with them. To put Drocis in the best possible light, his current role is that of the hopeful critic. He acknowledges the problems surrounding the game, does his best to highlight them when necessary, and tries not to get too down on the game while doing it. He wasn't always in this role though, and at times he fills additional roles, including POT owner, and PvPer. The thing about not just Drocis, but a lot of older SotA players, is that they have alts, and all too often one alt is liked while another is reprehended. IM and AvatarAcid's very different relationships with Port is a fine example. Sure, you come clean and they immediately ban you for doxxing your own family (lmao Port?), but the point is we may very well like the same person we also dislike and not even know it.

Also, I know he has multiple alts that he uses to upvote his arguements.

Rune is trying to make this a single player game and forcing the devs to kill of multiplayer. As he is one of avatar acid's crew, and demand respect in their forums." - the one

Beyond that, what is he even talking about? When has Rune_74 ever said he wants to kill all multiplayer?

If the devs can't figure out that some BMC idiot made a total bitch of their economy right in front of them in excess of 60,000 times non-stop... you think they can or even care to sit down and track Alts?
I mean... If I were those guys I'd have about 20 cheap ass led screen all on the walls pulling data out of the DB. Doesn't even look like they have the basics like, you know, count total gold or count total gold by player sort by asc.
A clue. Get one.

True, Rune must be getting to The Baron that he is blatently using his alts to attack him now. Though, intlligence is not something I(or many others) attribute to him.

You have a very different view of the baron then I do(and many others). Morde has seemed to be in the minority view of Drocis, on these forums. Good thing too, because if the majority here liked Drocis, this forum wouldn't be for me. I'm already skirting the line by insulting RG, IM has turned kind of cold.

You have a very different view of the baron then I do(and many others). Not just a different view- I'm genuinely biased. He is a friend of mine and I am convinced of his good intentions (heavy bias). He quite literally attacks other posters and gets away with it on the forums. I admit I've seen him take a few cracks at people, but nothing that compares to the animosity that has been exhibited again and again on SU. He also is only critical when he can get the most out of a change and could care less about what others feel is lacking. Somehow I doubt that, if I asked him in private, he would say, "Why yes Mordecai, I do not care about what others feel is lacking." Perhaps he shares the common view here that most SotA supporters don't have a grasp on what is genuinely lacking. That would explain why he only is critical when he thinks he can enact a meaningful change. gets away with it on the forums This is an issue of moderation. It is not Baron F's fault that he is valued higher due to his high backing and POT ownership. I know that he abhors the inquality. Now I'm all for tinfoil parties but it seems that, whenever it suits us, I hear talk of alts and devious hidden agendas. Phallus Pillager has made such claims particularly often, but every time I've publicly confronted him for evidence, he goes silent. If I were to ask the same of you calico, what would you say?

I would say there is no Calico on the main boards, which is the truth and that I only post under one name on the main boards. You want proof that there are alts posting there? All you have to do is look at post counts and what they post also when they post. The higher backers have multiple accounts that's no lie and not even a stretch...you call it a conspiracy? I call it reality. The baron sometimes attacks posters? He foams at the mouth when ever responding to some posters as we have seen him do to Rune_74 on the forums, did you not see that kickstarter thread? A baron with an empty PoT will be his legacy at the end.

It's due to the ability to say what we want, no holds barred. They just find malicious & under handed ways to express the same over at SotA. Troll threads to get them locked. Get people banned. Which forum holds more animosity did you say?

So many threads have been closed by him and his buddies.

There is no question there are alts over at SotA. The whales buy multiple accounts, it's an automatic that comes with it.
But, Mordecai, you have told us you don't even have a SotA game, only a forum account. I'm not sure how you could be close friends with a lot of people, like Drocis, if you don't even play the game but only post or read the forums. You also have no microphone. Those of us who sometimes wear tin foil hats tend to think you might be someone's alt from SotA.
Not accusing. I'm just mistrustful of a lot of people.

At the end of the day, not much you can do about alts or personal attacks on that forum, the mods and staff have made it clear it is open season on some posters and not others. It's frustrating to watch and know you can do nothing.
