Nice troll. But the OP made me laugh. "IN NO WAY AM I ENDORSING THIS GAME OR SUGGESTING THAT ANYONE GOTO OR LEAVE SOTA FOR THIS GAME" as if he's terrified of offending the fans because a person isn't a purist and only loves SotA and RG. The hell? I mean, who is that loyal to any game? That would be childish - I have dozens of games I like to play. Why in hell would I limit myself? Or give a disclaimer when discussing another game I enjoy? That shows the craziness of that forum, yet he thinks it's the best community ever. lol Loyal and faithful to my partner. But a game? lol

It's the only way to look at the property value in a positive light. Fact is, that guy is a fan and plays the game. Probably paid to write that piece of junk. What the article misses is, property values in UO rose that much due to player retention and interest. Interest in SotA is clearly dropping, if you note sales figures. They made <$50,000 at their last telethon (or whatever they call it) and didn't even make the stretch goal. Steam reviews have tanked the game. You can only have digital real estate escalate, as in Ebay, when there is no housing to be found. That's just not the case in SotA, nor will it be. But I figure you knew all that, just flapping my jaws.

From the Author: Jan 15 2016 - "I spoke to Richard Garriott yesterday evening. We've spoken before. And, I admit, he wins me round each time" Jan 14 2016 - "Researching Shroud of the Avatar and it got me thinking about a deeper point with crowdfunded online games. Something about new MMOs I love is the initial surge into the relative unknown. There are betas but that's it. But crowdfunded games are played for years before..." He's probably not being paid to do it Caliya - but he isn't a Gamer by any means and if I had to guess, just a fucking hipster with a macintosh and some free time.

Howd I miss that one lol.
2014: "Look again next year, when pre-alpha is long over."
haaaaaaaaaaaaaaahahahahaha
So his checklist for SotA living up to UO: 1 you sign your trades - accurate 2 you click keywords for convo - inaccurate, UO never had dat shit 3 cast spells with reagents - inaccurate, only some spells require some regs and even that is debatable now 4 spells can fizzle - inaccurate, going with not true cos spells even up to 3rd tier fizzle like 1 out of 100 times. that isn't like UO. 5 music is near identical - inaccurate, at date of review it was stock as balls and freebie crap. 6 player houses surrounding the cities - inaccurate, they're in the fucking cities. 7 classless skill system - kind of accurate, yet at time of review use based skills(UO) were not even in. 8 player run eco - inaccurate, there was none. 9 crafting - accurate, yeah you can craft things.
The list is weak as piss. I am now at the opinion of %50 dumbass %50 paid shell of a blogger

but he isn't a Gamer by any means and if I had to guess Naw, he's a fanboi through & through. Someone's put him up to this. Or his own sense of fanboi'ism that's blocked his ability to be objective. "When Ultima Online came out 17 years ago it blew my teenage mind. My medieval fantasy world was alive, inhabited by actual other people. I didn't care that I didn't have any idea what to do because it was so exciting!"

In the latest newsletter from last Saturday, they've still added another POT design! They aren't done yet, not by a long shot. That dev time is going into that way too much. That's more than feature creep, eh? Is there an official project management term for when scope creep totally destroys a project? Not a single one, no. Scope Creep is real though. The problem and/or escape these ass clowns have: If there was never any "scope" to begin with, how can we have scope creep? They said it flatly "Its design on the fly"; that is an oxymoronic statement. And the same moron who made it is who banned me over calling him on that same bullshit (almost 2 years ago) -- now its self-admitted as the de facto structure they used to "design". har har. jokes on me? lol.

That's more than feature creep, eh? Is there an official project management term for when scope creep totally destroys a project? You got it: scope creep. Now I'm not sure what planet they manage projects, but on THIS planet scope creep generally results in the team taking on more and more ambitious features and won't stop until the project crashes and burns. That's why we try to avoid scope creep whenever possible. However, since Portalarium obviously has no project management talent on board, they are pretty much doomed. The end result of all of this is cost overruns. Sound familiar?

That's why we try to avoid scope creep whenever possible. However, since Portalarium obviously has no project management talent on board, they are pretty much doomed. The end result of all of this is cost overruns. Sound familiar? Scope creep kind of is their product though; after all without the promise of in depth content and genre redefining experiences, what were they offering? No one signed up for Yet Another MMO, they wanted formative experiences like Ultima in their youth, and that's what they were promised... Astronomy, farming, new and exciting combat... When we all first logged in, we saw the bare bones, house decorating and assumed that's what we'd be doing when we needed down time from all the wonders we'd spend the day exploring, it was where we'd lay our heads not where we'd actually be living. And then, it slowly became apparent that this was ALL we'd be getting, that property elitism was where the funding money was, and now we'll be lucky if we get the cloned villages ever made individual, let alone actual content. But they can't stop promising, otherwise the remaining backers might get wise, so... Project Creep keeps on creeping on!
