Yeah, a bit of dirty laundry in that thread, now. hehehe. Watching guild drama is like watching a trainwreck is slow motion. It's hard to turn away.
One thing I didn't know, before now, that Ezekiel Cooper fellow is unpleasant. Hopefully he's not a friend of any of you, because wow, he's sporting some serious jerk++;
I'm glad the community called them on it, though. As was enumerated in the thread, with that precedent set, and dev approval, they'll do it again. They basically now have a one-time indefinite future "get out of banning free" card for the entire guild, because of this incident, which is unfortunate.

I don't have any issue with them finding an exploit now. My issue is with Port allowing BMC to use to promote their guild. Also, I think infusing the economy with I'll gotten gains alters any data they collect until the next wipe.
If Port wanted to test what dumping 55 million gold into the economy would do, they should do it. Not allow BMC to distribute that amount at a guild sponsored event they promote on the forums.
No aspect of testing should be allowed as a promotional tool for one guild, even if the proceeds are offered to any player.

Duke Cooper: "Thanks @koldar for "liking" the original post. It's always nice to see SotA Forum moderator support."
Cooper needs to come here for troll class, he's doing it wrong.

I don't have any issue with them finding an exploit now. Me either. That's what pre-launch is all about. Once they do final wipe and this happens, guess what they'll have to do? Another wipe. lol

Guys, you find an exploit and then you report it, end of story. You don't fucking macro it and then destroy a testing phase while promoting your guild at the same time.
The guy who did it is a total jackass and the leader of BMC even more so for supporting it. It is ridiculous.

Oh I agree it was totally being taken advantage of and uncalled for. That just isn't the main thing I have a problem with is all given it'll be wiped.

Agreed they are jackasses and fucking Portalarium over while also pretending to kiss their ass. But, punishing an exploiter at pre-release? They should be fixing their game and looking at this behavior before final wipe. It's their responsibility to do it. Punishing players at this point is funny to me. Not that Zeke shouldn't be banned (he should, that total asshat). But this punishment BS goes on constantly by Portalarium.

In UO, there were gold dupers and they had to do resets several times, even some from several days previous so all the XP/etc. you gained during that time was gone. If you placed a house you'd been camping. Poof.
Hard wiping the game and claiming it's "not launched" and no more wipes is laughable at this stage.

But, punishing an exploiter at pre-release? Yes, absolutely. This is an easy precident to be set and it needs to be set early. Find exploit, report. Not find exploit, continue to exploit at a gross level, and then report because you get caught.

Give them something for their reporting as a reward. That would encourage people to report exploits. I saw in the forum where the devs didn't even so much as thank the person for an exploit they reported, and I could tell by what they said, they were crushed not to be acknowledged. Portalarium owes it to their testers to "pay" them in some way to "test." Playing a shitty boring game is not a reward.

I mean think about it. We bought into a game early to "play" and "test" it. We paid them for the "right" to test and report bugs. How is that a reward?

But think of all the bugs Chris says that have been reported by the dude since then! This is a real opportunity BMC's members have made for Port to test out high level characters because there would have been no other way to accomplish that without their hell. I think we should all be thanking them guts, seriously.
It's claimed in that thread that Chris and Duke are real life friends... Just sayin. Also, Chris is a BMC fb group admin, no?

People there submitting assets to them in the spirit of cooperation have been ostracised, some band, the vast majority ignored totally. You want to give exploiters rewards?
Testing is one thing, but this is going to destroy the testing! This is like a denial of service attack, it is spam and it isn't good in any way.

RL friends exploit, and they are still friends? lol I agree, these guys should be thanked. Because this has made Portalarium put software in place to test for these sort of algorithms. That's what a good gaming company does. Finds the exploiters and fixes that shit. Exploiters should be trying to break the game, and break it hard. Because if they don't, and things go along with people who are "trustworthy" - after launch it's too late. Way too late. But Zeke is still an A #1 Asshat.

made Portalarium put software in place to test for these sort of algorithms. Something that should have been expected to be put in regardless of little macro kiddies exploiting Chris's fucked code.

Yes, and why did they wait so long to do it? They should've been doing that shit early on. At least they did it now, several months prior to final wipe.

From 'the Coopster': I don't think the Coopster has a real strong grasp on how client/server games work. Chris did mention they did it over 60,000 times though, so they've got that going for them. I'm loving the hand-waving-jedi mind trick of "these aren't the exploiters you're looking for" that BMC is attempting. I hope justice finds them, swift and cold.

bblackstone gives us new information on the level of craziness which occurs between Devs and the pets: "I know I remember running 500+ quests for newbies, giving away armor and wondering, "Who the hell is this guy?" As you were getting knighted. I was already on the naughty list though for calling the devs out on giving Duke Violation 500k after a wipe. Was all down hill from there. Edit: But Violation texts DS so what are you gonna do. I didnt know that at the time."

bblackstone throwing bare knuckled haymakers no way that thread stays open much longer. Good on you dude, these are things people deserve to know about. Maybe blowing things up on the forum here was anger turned to negativity, but calling out total bullshit favoritism is something the community deserves to know about and I think your posts there are perfectly justified. Not that you need my endorsement or care for it.
