It is essentially a damage control piece.
While he makes an attempt to be even handed, he essentially absolves Port of any issues that have taken place over the life of the project because they are blazing a trail.
Its really nothing we haven't seen before in defense of them, but I found it interesting it was going up now off the forums. There is growing dissatisfaction in the community and I think this is a response to that. The fact that it was posted at all is indicative of people realizing that there are issues.
My biggest gripe with all these arguments is the 'just hang in there' when they have essentially stated that the game will be in perpetual development. It basically says there is no justifiable line in the sand that one can make, no rational expectation one is allowed to hold for delivery of a satisfactory product because the product will never be completed. Its a nice trick I see used frequently in defense of the game's sorry state.

I bet this got put on the forums right away and lauded by the usuals?

I haven't seen it there, but it was shared by the Shroud fb page and it popped up in my newsfeed.

Hehe. Only I never complained about the time to release directly. I questioned their schedule, yes. I raged on things that were delaying it, yes. So dropping my name to imply early dissent for those reasons is not accurate.

I kind of felt bad for the writer. He can see issues but is hoping for the best.

At this point, I really really don't understand the glass full people. WHAT GLASS!? It is like a puppy that gets beaten daily for 3 years and hopes every day that the next day will be the last.
Poor puppy.

I didn't agree with him that we should be positive for the other backers. That was a bit off.

Like I said, being positive while someone is smacking you in the face constantly is really alien to me haha. Puppy = Rune for example before RG stepped into that thread.

In that thread, some people seemed to cheer up(some continued to be assclowns though too). In the short/long run, lets watch that single player hangout tomorrow and observe to find out.

The timeline is actually a big problem. If things go well your looking at what Ep.2 in 2019? I mean they need to continue to make money for this to even happen. It's not that I don't think the game won't come out I just don't know how they will continue to bring new people into the game. Ep.5 2014? 10 years later? Maybe I'm clueless but they don't have other games to bring income in. They need to hit the ball out of the park with this game in the mmo field. Games like this survive on the players that don't spend money but play the game all the time. They are the ones that bring life into the world for all the other people. They have alienated that group completely and expect to be able to reach the dream of the game. Most MMO's that have ever talked about what they want to end of being, never actually get their and some that were hits coming out of release.
There is soo much egg on the face that I hope they reach what their trying to achieve. But as someone whoms played mmo's far too much for almost the last 16 years they have a very long ways to go. In which in this time even some of the behemoth companies have failed in some cases, with more interesting products. They needed to create either a SP that people remembered which really is only 40 hours if its quality. Or something different in an MMO which will make people enjoy it even with the expected non AAA aspects. Will be a interesting ride to the starting line to see if there will ever be a finish line in site.

It reminds me of some games that end up on www.gamescampus.com/ Just some vendor trying to milk the last breaths of a dying game.

It is a bit interesting that a thread like that(done every few months) is getting less attention this time.
