so during that telethon Richard said we got plan. So why not tell everyone what that plan is to house them. Why are they so vague its annoying as hell My first thought is underground housing zones/hexes, because at least those zones can be designed to be "interior" and thus have reasonable loading and rendering performance, highly unlike what's been demonstrated so far with Unity in their hands, for "exterior" zones. Of course, without direct access from the Overland/Overworld map, it's going to make a TON of people very angry, and just increase the value of NPC homes. But underground PRT housing hexes, with crafting circles & crafting NPC's, with direct access from the overland map (maybe a use for all those mountains) could be a magic bullet.

If I was forced to choose a lot location underground as opposed to a POT, no choice at all, underground map or not, Maybe even be kinda cool.
The worry I have here is something else. They finally mentioned what some of the underground stuff coming out may be that connects. A crap ton of scenes for them for example. I think though, users have been building the underground with asset kits not yet available to the rest of the community. A rumour came in a while ago that said a group of people were building a lot of something with an off limits asset kit via crowdsource for Port. Wonder how all that is going to go if built by players...

See this sounds reasonable but the ironic funny ass part about the whole thing is: during Kickstarter the pledging was too create a virtual real estate market. So if you bought in and pledged large you would have a commodity that would be wanted. They have totally created misconception about the value of property overtime by de valuing what they sold during kickstarter. By creating more hosuing areas. Which is that wouldn't of mattered if they had a plan so that people that wanted to spend normal dollars for the game wouldn't be totally fucked over by this. The POT's, PRT's. Kinda screwed the kickstarter people over. KS people were sold lies of having something rare for spending. This is all out the door. All they had todo was create apartments for people like EQ2 housing and normal people would have been fine. POT'S might have been a good way to start funding for EP.2

(...) Wonder how all that is going to go if built by players... Badly. When players did submit scenes, back in the day, they were -terrible-. I don't remember a single one that had any reasonable combination of density, story, polish, and performance. Most were absurdly large or tiny, and most didn't even know how to deal with multi-texture/transparency to create 'trails'. It was all bad, all the time. And of course, if there were any guidelines from Portalarium, they were ignored and/or not enforced, which didn't help at all. If there was a gem in the user-submitted scenes, I never got to see it.

The player created content is why I backed the game... was hoping for some solid built kits that had parameters.

Agreed, it was a draw. The dev team simply didn't deliver, and had absolutely no process for handling submissions in any meaningful or automated way. Then when time came for payment? Delayed by months/years. Horrible.

Oh, believe me, IM, right there with ya. The list of helpful tools, solutions, processes, implementations (because YOU CAN'T USE AN IDEA.. grrr), and detailed logical constructive contributions to this project that were ignored?
Holistically and historically, that may be the largest travesty of all.

Yeah, granted I have no skills either in any of that stuff. But I wanted to try it haha, I would have been thrilled to have like, a pebble in there that I knocked out or something equally as small as that. Just lost interest in the whole thing after watching the confusing flurry of failures that came out of most of the crowdsourcing stuff. They picked the wrong times for the first competitions and then it was just dead after that anyway, they seemed to then move to accepting stuff from the loudest mouths. That never works out too well.

It takes a hit to your sanity sometimes doesn't it They will off-topic/troll/report until the thread is either abandoned/moderated at times.

The "SP" crowd couldn't out mouth the "mmo" crowd on the forum, they certainly couldn't out $$ them especially after POTs came about. So, they got shoved to the back of the class. I'm surprised also that the story people accepted to wait this long because at every turn the Devs were like "huge progress on Story, but you can't see it, wait" haha.

I always thought of it more of a 'Don't hold me to the things I've said in the past, bro' That was my interpretation as well. The worst form of corrupt disloyal cowardice I've seen displayed in years.
