Id like for them to surprize me and make it good though

Looks like they're headed for a heap of trouble, given the initial responses by the community.
Pretty sure this is another "we don't care, we're doing it this way to make the whales happy" moment for Port et al.
Maybe after the fourth or fifth PR roasting, they'll learn. Or maybe not.

They now call it Early Access so that they don't have to say they did a final wipe in pre-Alpha!

Fallout happened in Dev+ Who's left? I figured someone would speak up about it instead of taking it like a puppy. hell all I saw this mornin was praises. I think because it came out in Dev+ and everyone had a chance to discuss the negatives, those left in the public forums were just resigned to it. I think it's not possible to be negative because they chased out everyone who would oppose it. Those who don't know anything, like possible new players, probably will know nothing of the history and not question it. Wait until they get in the game though.

Yeah, Early Access was the demise of PFO, but for different reasons. I'm digging the whole revisionist history vibe, though. That's groovy. The short version is, decay is now a death penalty, and all the higher tiers are going to poach all the lower tier prime lot locations to become real estate barons for RL $$. And some kind of teleportation is in, without any details on the specific mechanism, and... what else, ah yes, a rousing discussion regarding zone-in selection mechanics which lead to nothing. All in all, a complete lack of critical thinking, so your typical SNAFUBAR.

Thanks for the welcome, Caliya. I got tired of having to edit my posts on the official forums when it came time to talk about the game direction. This seems like a better environment for that.

Afew of some of the last known people from kickstarter have mentioned some dislike. Overall no its been pretty positive. Not sure how many vocal kickstarter backers are really still around.

Tek is in there critiquing the decision and the move to PoT development delaying game features. Rune also criticized the move.
What is telling is that it doesn't seem the battles that were going on in Dev+ are taking place here publicly. If Portalarium's contention that the Dev+ backers are their most loyal, then they've successfully hidden their most loyal backers' criticisms.
I doubt many of those that expressed problems with the wipe and house placement taking place this summer will argue about it publicly. They are too invested in giving the impression that the game is being viewed in a positive light than getting tangible criticism into the open where it should be. I believe even Bekers was critical of the decision in some way. She (?) alluded to it in a Steam thread. It is sad that those criticisms will probably not come to light.

What will decide if this is a good move or not is if any of the media bother reviewing it once it goes to launch; The forums will say the game is going to be the greatest right up until development stops entirely, they're too invested in it to be objective any more. But if the game bombs in the reviews, I think the damage to their delusion, and the unavoidable halt to growth hopes will be devastating... my feeling is they've announced it now not because the money isn't coming in, the Whales will spend themselves into oblivion forever, but because outside of the paid for Red Thomas, no one seems to care in the media any more. On a whim, I did a search for Shroud on Kotaku, and there was only 1 story from 2014, and the rest of the online media is largely the same. So it's make or break time. Gamble it all on a product they probably feel is solid, and hope for interest to restart... or just give up on content and slow down the work load because at least the core audience wont leave. Mostly. Hopefully...

Many places will not review while it is in early access. Port knows that and thus they'll keep the tag. My guess is it will gain little to no traction because they haven't 'launched' on their terms yet.
I'll give them this, they've played with semantics and the system and its worked for a majority of those that rabidly follow the game. Problem is, there are very few of them comparatively speaking.

But But....they said Alpha and Beta is coming! Wouldn't launch until ready, I guess they told the truth there because this game will never launch because of the unique way of designing games. By the seat of their pants.

Yeah, and there's a bunch of back and forth between posters as well as quotes from DS and all bickering about whether it's launch or not. Semantic jousting.
When you stop deleting progress, you've launched. And you will be crucified as a launched game, regardless of how many reality-altering words you try and use to give the impression you're still under development forever. I mean, all MMO's claim to be under development forever, with patches and expansions. The difference in language is typically test/dev/prod, but they're definitely going into production after the last delete.
And that housing/lot selection process is going to be a dung tornado, wow.

This is pure damage control in the main forums. The posters that posted first in that thread were most likely told that it would be going up and to spice it positive.

As zinc said.
I think the strongest trait portalarium has is its ability to manipulate dialogue and statements to escape persecution

Sad thing is, I don't even think it needs to be asked for at this point. They have plenty of people that will get out there and run damage control without prompting.
