Did any of you have the, privilege, of playing the prequel to Shroud of the Avatar, Ultimate Collector?

Holy shit, that revelation must have blown your mind. I'm guessing they took a bath on UC. Obviously if its not still active and the whole Zynga thing fell through. Prior to SotA, that company was in a real real bad spot. SotA may have been born more from necessity than artistry.

Well it would have blown my mind if I hadn't seen the developments that occurred in Sota. I've known about that little failure for about a year now but sure didn't when I kickstarted the bitch. I think what would be more tell tale is if you could look at whom was employed at the time that game was made until the present.

I'm not even going to watch this cuz: SOTA: Fossil: Launch: Has high hopes, not sure about what but cannot be shook from the belief of something great procuring. End of Year One: Still has high hopes but starts to being wavering on the dismissal of Open world PvP. Not deterred if a solid PvE or good storyline follows this blow to his psyche. And the very noticeable forum policing. I'll continue this later I need to look up release dates to timeline what I'm going to present. In fact this could be somewhat off already. I could delete this and remove it. But I don't give a damn what people think about me.

I never bought into Ultimate Collector, but let me give a run down of what turned me away from the business strategy behind SotA.
A couple months after we got into the forums (thinking we could influence some change), we discovered the article on the Land Rush, and then this failed Ultimate Collector.
Oh no, but Garriott didn't stop with the failed UC. He decided to take it big time, by making SotA the graphical version of UC. I tried to tell people this for nearly 2 years now. But people simply don't want to, or can't, believe that RG would be behind the train wreck that SotA is. All the housing and collectibles in SotA are RGs pet preferences. It's obvious from watching the UC videos. He just took it from micro-transactions to mega transactions. Making things limited and rare, and yes this was his preference too. This is why I've been posting all the Barbie stuff. It's not a game, it's a collector's play set.
No one can blame the devs for those things. It's all on RG. He has a history of 2 things: hiding his failures by suing other people and making them responsible, appearing to be inaccessible.
This is why I am no RG fan. And after this dismal failure (in my eyes) of SotA, he will forever be on my black list, as well as everyone on his team.

Think about it: the cash shop is the only thing Port is successful at. No core system is outstanding, or even good. It's marginally usable (combat, crafting, etc). They've put all their effort into making money with collectibles.
And if people don't believe me that he's sued more than a few times, Google it. This is one reason people never blamed UO's shortcomings on RG. He sued them and ran.
