I thought I would put a series of topics out on how best to support the people creating the content we enjoy based on another topic we have here. I'll be the first one to admit I don't really know or understand the process of getting your content out to the world, and I might not need to because I don't really create any content.
However I consume it and I believe that the creator of the content should benefit from that as much as possible. So those that know, what is the best way to support musicians, the best way to buy their content without a middle man taking too much of that purchase?

From my experience, most musicians make the lion's share of their income from live shows. As far as buying their music, getting it from them directly (i.e. their website), if possible, is usually the best way to minimize (read: NOT eliminate) middle men expenses. Ultimately, the greatest way you can support any and all of us artists is to spread the word when you like our work

Haha not me. Us artists, not us musicians. At best, I'm an amateur pianist (yeah, yeah).

Theatre and film actor. I'm one of the many slowly starving to death in New York, but I wouldn't have it any other way

Either the villain or the red herring. Those two make up my wheelhouse.
