In fairness, I could see item drop being a huge problem for machines running the game as they try to render each individual item. Part of why I would have much rather had this be something more akin to UO's perspective. Its pretty much balls it won't be in, but I'd guess those are tech related issues, that or they just don't want to waste resources on something they feel isn't important (I agree with the guy, I think it is).
When commenting on those forums, I always tried to leave out UO, because as soon as you use that as a reference, your idea is shat upon. Even when using as an example the many things that game did right, as soon as its mentioned the response is 'this isn't UO2'.

I like this, welcome to the club, Smitty! lol
"I've got hundreds of dolla rs invested in this game a lready in a dd ons and they would ban me for a sking about item drop? Thanks for the heads up Jackrabbit. I' m not sure what is going on around here."

Starr: "A feature like item drops anywhere takes about 2-3 prog ra mmers multiple weeks (if not months) to get working properly without killing performance."
"Fishing is near and dear to us as well but until we have the gear economy / crafting backbone where we want it we don't want to prioritize that work."
Notice, the gear economy/crafting backbone still is not in place even today as he posted it. And yet they're still building items for the game that were never part of the original KS goals, such as POTs that must surely take a crapton of time behind the scenes, apart from players building their own scenes.

Starr: "It is still something we want to consider but we have major performance concerns because of the increase in dynamic objects in a scene. Just go visit any town with player housing and decorations a nd watch the performance go down. Until we can solve that we don't want to compound the issue."
State of the core game, due to POTs and housing, is not done in other words. They also won't commit to it "we want to consider" lol
Why don't those people wise up??

I've reworded/translated what Spoon was actually saying... lol
Spoon: "Sometimes when the devs develop something for the game minority, the whales, they will based on player whale requests/interest money develop a similar item for the players whales and fuck the majority of little fish who just want the core game they were promised."

Starr: "NO feature (code) is being delayed because of add-ons (content). It is DIFFERENT employees with DIFFERENT skill sets. Your perception that there is a cause and effect there is FALSE and only serves to get people riled up."
People should get riled up, Starr. If you aren't hiring people to design the core game, and instead hiring DIFFERENT employees with DIFFERENT skillsets, that is STILL the same fucking thing. You should be investing the money you got in KS and beyond, to hire employees to fulfill THOSE tasks. Not some ugly monstrous fucking whale air ship.
Starr: "All pledges and add o n dollars go to fund the project. Those funds pay the salaries of employees. There are no separate teams. We only have one very small team of a bout 25 people. Some of those people are artists and they can make content (like a house)."
This quote is in direct opposition to the previous quote. And THIS is why people say the core development is delayed due to add-ons, in addition what I said above.

I really liked Bubonic's response: "Keep in mind the differentiation between delaying the game and delaying features. Dark starr was obviously correct when he asserted that an a rtist building a house does not interfere with a programmer creating a separate feature.
HOWEVER
Artists creating extra assets WILL delay the game, directly proportional to the a mount of time spent creating said assets as well as implementation. Assets are content, after all, just like DS said. And if extra content is being created for the addon store before game-required content is complete (which obviously seems to be the case, because the game required content is not complete), then that means the game required content has been delayed. Unless, of course, Portalarium has hired a rtists to work ONLY on extra, non-required content. And I think we all know that this is not the case, especially with a "small team of around 25"."

I don't like the argument Port uses for their defence. It is always something like "we didn't need to hire any extra" or "they work on different things"
Here is an idea. Fire everyone building houses, hats, and decorations and then replace them with people who can get me my fucking thievery, moon phases, and weather!
No matter how they skin it, they aren't wasting resources because X. No matter how I skin it they are wasting resources because Y.
Problem solved! Wait a sec...

That's all I saw. "We aren't delaying development because the money you gave us went to hiring people to do something else other than development. The developers are still developing! These people are extra!"
Like.. do they not get it? They hired artists to make add-ons instead of devs to get this fucking show on the road. It isn't like they were ahead of the curve on this and thought, "We got extra money. We got spare time on this. Let's get some more content while adding in some other cool stuff now that the devs are wrapping up and we have all this cash."
THEY ARE ALMOST TWO YEARS BEHIND SCHEDULE WHAT THE FUCK.
How utterly brain damaged are they??

It was a way for him to cast suspicion on all posts by Tarsilion. As if that really mattered. lol We each have minds of our own, they just happen to agree quite a bit of the time. I've never known Tarsilion to block anyone, so it was a surprise to me.

No high school-level D&D campaign to wipe my ass with? No just an unfinished litter b-- er, sandbox, yeah, sandbox. physical objects... only idiots want to sell physical objects when you can just sell virtual real estate. I mean its hella expensive to box and ship physical items, id have to do some research on that before I have the optics to do that properly. OR I'll send you a Turd and a Loonie for your troubles
