Try tell that to RG, I've seen him state more than once that he is the inventor of MMO's. lul That guy talks so much shit for an old man.

Of course we're used to RG trying to take credit when something is good, and lay blame when he screwed up. MUDs were the first idea something like this was possible. "Many people credit games like Meridian59 and Ultima Online as being the first ‘MMORPGs’ ever, but this isn’t entirely true. Meridian59 was released in late 1996 and Ultima Online was released in 1997, but these weren’t the first two online games. In fact there were dozens of older online games. I’m talking about Multi-user dungeons (MUDs), which were largely text based role playing games played across the early internet. Mazewar, released in 1974, is credited as the first graphical virtual world and could be played online across the ARPAnet, which was a forerunner of the modern internet." mmohuts.com/news/the-first-mmorpg-the-early-history-of-the-genre

From what I understand (there are more knowledgeable people out there so I'll freely admit to being wrong) after the EA purchased Origin, RG became more of a figurehead. He's listed as Producer for UO. I can't help but think of when movies advertise 'new movie y from the people that brought you great movie x' and you find out that great movie x was directed by a great director and new movie y is horrid because the producer meant very little to the end product of great movie x. The last game he is listed as a designer on was Ultima VI: lost prophet in 1990 which is also the last game he has a writing credit for. Can't wait for this amazing SotA story! Who is creating all these super deep meaningful quests that tie into the virtues? I'm pretty sure Hickman isn't writing all that garbage (although he did write Blade of the Avatar, so he can certainly generate garbage).
Even for SotA, he is listed as Executive Producer or Director. Starr is listed as Producer. I think that suits their roles here well. Reading through the stand ups, I don't get a sense he does much tangible work. Some days he is simply listed as 'playtesting'. Seems like some menial shit for a guy who is supposed to be operating the whole show.

I know a lot are seeing that RG basically has no involvement with the game development and it's very apparent playing the game that it's no Ultima. That doesn't bother me, what does is that RG is using his name to sell the game, along with his bullshit speeches, if it wasn't for that, this game would be buried long time ago. Dude is a crook and beyond. I always find it interesting when RG is doing these in game interviews and he barely knows the world, is surprised to see new items, or ones that have been there forever and he thought were new, lul, he doesn't know the basic commands, I see him doing stuff in game that if he actually had involvement with the game he would know the easier way.

As it will be SotA 3rd release technically i do not expect a huge impact. I think they pulled in most customers already.
By you need to watch out how the worded "release"
They definition release as the day the "servers" will not go down. That is not a release as we understand as customers. A feature finished game.
I asume they will announce in october, november the "release" within this definition: servers staying up.
With servers staying up months will follow, maybe calling it alpha or beta with all being able to play the online part.
But the single game part i expect to be a long road still.
I say late Q3
What will happen as soon as the real release will be:
On Steam they will move away from the Early Access into the finished area. All Early Access Reviews will then be deleted from Steam.
Steam will set SotA as all new games as i understand for a short time one page one.
Metacritics, Gamesites will then create valid finished game reviews. Reviews on Steam start from 0 again.

Hahahahaha, really? So, all of the bad reviews the Devs have been deleting are just going to disappear anyway when it goes live?? Steam and Greenlight are such shit. A slap in the face to true indi developers.

When Shroud first released on steam, I made sure I was paying attention to twitch streams that I know check the new releases almost daily. Everyone of them bypassed Shroud on the screen and didn't even talk about it. Usually they comment on the games but Shroud got no attention. lul
