I do pop into SotA occasionally but not much changes, except for the hats.
What I am playing:
MMO:
- Only one and very occasionally. Guild Wars 2. I like the combat.
Multiplayer:
-7 Days to Die. My favorite game right now. I play on an "anything goes" server and its a blast! Come on down...I'll shoot your face off! lol
Single-Player:
- Grim Dawn
- Divinity: Original Sin
- Path of Exile
- Pillars of Eternity
How about you?

SP: 1) I just finished "Dragon Age: Origins" for the first time last night. A wholly satisfying and enjoyable experience (I "played" for over 118 hours... some of that was afk, but still enjoyable to wade through so much content). DA:O offers a surprising amount of replay value for an SP RPG, and it has a cool story, bro, especially for an older game (too bad what happened to Bioware after EA bought them). I agree with what people said in that Witcher 3 thread about the importance of a quality SP story. Smack makes a fair point about the size of the Shroud team relative to the size of the teams working on DA:O and Witcher 3 (too bad it is likely that people are going to be disappointed when what they get from SotA doesn't even come close to the quality of story and choice that a game like DA:O or Witcher 3 offer). 2) Next up, I will finish up "Valkyria Chronicles" (I'm about 63 hours in... my perfectionism has prevented me from passing one particularly annoying mission, so I took a break from finishing this game before it made me punch a hole in my monitor). It's not nearly as interactive or fleshed out as DA:O is, but I like the art/anime cutscenes and the story is enjoyable. The combination of action and turn-based strategy combat is a really refreshing departure from how some games handle things (e.g., Final Fantasy Tactics). The game play is hellishly hard, at least for a shitty gamer like myself, but I still thoroughly enjoy it and appreciate how challenging some of the missions can be. 3) I dabble in Crusader Kings II from time to time. I have so many hours in that game (without even getting close to "mastering" its mechanics) that I realize it is a game to enjoy over a lifetime (like Civ IV). Love it though. It's probably not that difficult after you master the mechanics, but the thing I enjoy is the hint of "realism" it has when it comes to claims, inheritance, succession laws, etc. Some day soon, I will be King of Ireland. Mark my words! Honorable mention: I picked up " Brothers: A Tale of Two Sons" recently in a humble bundle and am looking forward to playing it. I played the first 15 minutes or so and the story, game world, and mechanics pulled me right into the action (and I would have kept playing if not for never having finished games #1 and #2). It seems like a charming game with a heart of gold. I expect the story will make me cry, but we'll see, maybe it's not a game like that... P.S. FTL is great. So fucking hard. At least for me (I'm sure people who really know it well don't have as much trouble as I do). Still, I love that game so much. It is incredibly difficult (at least for scrubs like me), has amazing music, and there's just something perfect about its art style and the nostalgia I get when playing it (it reminds me of Star Wars, Star Trek, and Battlestar Galatica). Too bad I'm no Captain Picard, though. MMO: 1) I used to play GW2 semi-regularly (mostly for the WvW), but I was nothing more than a casual pug. Even so, I managed a K:D ratio of around 15:1 (60k kills vs 4k deaths <--- the deaths include PvE deaths, but I don't PvE much, so I just count them for WvW). That's a deceptively high number for kills though because I primarily play Staff Elementalist and was fighting in large zerg fights, so it is easy to rack up the kills when you're abilities are hitting many players at once (even if it's only for minimal damage) <--- I mostly focus on Crowd Controlling the enemy zerg. However, I'm pretty burned out on that game now. Community has gotten more and more toxic, mostly because the "hardcore" and competitive pvpers all stacked one NA server (they claim its "for the fights," but we all know it's "for the easy bags"), so now most people on the other two servers have given up and that one server just rolls over everything (and doesn't ever seem to get bored of player versus door). I still love the combat mechanics in GW2 though. I can't stand to play traditional tab-targeting style MMO's after all of this time playing GW2. I tried Archeage (when it released in Korea) and the combat was so bad that I gave up after several hours of trying to love the game (because there are some aspects of its graphics and an openness to its world that are amazing). MP: Nothing at the moment. Might dabble in some Magicka soon, but it's an older game, so I'm doubtful much will come of that.

I admit FTL is actually difficult for me as well, but only the boss. Getting there is pretty easy, but cutting that fucker down is pretty hard at times.
I'm not actively playing anything at the moment, been thinking about finding a UO freeshard actually. I dont know why. All this Ultima nostalgia makes me want to play a good MMO Ultima and it is the only one.

Most people suggest having shields at a certain level, certain types of weapon, etc. Which would be great, but I struggle to even make it to the boss (I spend way too many jumps trying to help people, and wind up dying in the first few systems way more than I should). So, getting all those upgrades sorted before that end stage (without dying like a chump) is no easy task. The difficulty for me is mostly because I suck, though. Still, very good game with lots of replay value.

I enjoy head to head combat, It's always random and a good mix-up. The RTS, FPS etc., currently World of Tanks is a blast for me. The balance of firepower and armor is fantastic, Hail the Russians for that game. I don't think Richard needs anymore of my money to explore the center of the Earth, do any of you?

Or did they move and I lost track: playrustwiki.com/wiki/ChangelogFacepunch ditched the old version of Rust and started over with a new version a year ago. They mainly did this because their old code was such a mess and the intention of the old version was just a prototype anyway. The new version is getting pretty awesome though! They implemented a lot of (MMO-like) items in the game such as water catchers, electric generators, mining (source: rustafied.com). Anyway back OT: At the moment I play a lot of Heroes of the Storm. I like it a lot! As a matter of fact, I didn't expect it to like it at all because I normally hate the MOBA genre. Heroes of the Storm is different, I think I'll play this game for a while. Oh btw, I see some of you guys talking about returning to UO, which is great. Any opinions about Shards Online so far? Will this be the true successor of UO? I'm following this game with full interest.

You got ordinary snails and you can purchase with in-game cash or with real-life money some additional cool ones. It will be done soon, and I can give you a link, if you wish!

If anyone there plays, I was Brandon of the Crew of the Black Wind and I started up the Free City of Trinsic (now run by Skye Wolfbane). Did those two huge threads showing us extort people at sea and selling 2 gold books for 50-150K ship licenses lol. I do miss that, but no crew anymore and I won't go back to it. Otherwise I'm playing PlanetSide 2, just got into the Witcher series, still gotta' beat some of the old Assassin's Creed games, and waiting for Star Citizen to take the rest of my life. Looking for some fun medieval/renaissance games (BDO looks like it'll be a good time - I wish ArcheAge wasn't such an enormous fuck up), 'cause I need my fix. Does anyone play Das Tal?

I broke my one rule: Never go back and play a game I've written off.
I purchased H1Z1 several months ago, played with the hackers and bots for about two hours and then demanded a refund which Steam graciously delivered.
Under a bit of pressure from friends, I re-purchased the game and in that three months, it seems like a completely different game.
The best thing is seeing the system announcements come through about every 10 minutes, saying, so-and-so has been banned for cheating. Seems like they are aggressively dealing with cheaters.
We will see how long all of this lasts. I'm still skeptical.

Lotro : Lifetime sub (beta) FF14 : I hated on this game like no other but it in fact is the best mmo on the market. Minus no PvP that's meaningful. Everquest: Ragefire Server... Double the xp and no corpse running who'd of tunk I'd be that much fun! Planetside2: John Smedley please step down. Potential is out of this world but it's been stale for over a year.
Pillars of Eternity: guess what unity engine can make games that don't suck... who'd of tunk.
Eve: skill train offline for me atm but ya been playing soo long I have to keep checkin in.

I agree about PoE. Great game. I haven't played LOTRO for so long I don't think I even remember my character's name. I am also a lifer. I recently added H1Z1 to my arsenal. I hated it the first time I played but went back a couple of months later after the 20K cheater bans and the game feels very different and is much more enjoyable. They are really putting in a lot of effort keeping cheaters out of the game. You can see who's banned because each one generates a system message on your screen. On the server where I play that's about 10-15 people per play session. It must be automated or something. My only recommendation is to learn to play on one of the PvE servers and move to a PvP server after you're more comfortable. Jumping directly into PvP is a recipe for disaster...unless you enjoy getting your face blown off 20-30 times everytime you play.

Someday I'm sure I will since I'm subbed to DBG I'm just upset about how they have handled PS2 on PC.

Wargaming has a steep skill curve. Yeah? Just gotta know your tank well enough to keep yourself hidden and/or angled. Also head on games like that tend to force you to squad up else your win ratio is usually between 52-54% at the very best, due to shithead teams

Interesting to note positioning is important as good timing, otherwise your tank is so much digitized milk glass.

I'll comment on Shards Online since I do play it every play test, it is being created by people that seem to get that not everyone wants to be locked into a carebear safezone game, a lot of great idea's happening, so far it is the closest game that I've played to being like UO. That being said, there is barely anything in the game at the moment, servers are incredibly laggy, to the point that it has been almost un playable at times. It is another auto attack game which is quite boring, top down, quite boring. The way servers will be setup is what scares me about the game, I went through hell in NWN finding a non carebear non corrupt server to play on that didn't disappear every month. The only way I'll play Shards Online is on official servers where I won't have to worry about this. The direction of the game is great though and it most likely will be the closest thing so far to UO when finished. The developers actually will come in game to hangout too, get feedback, feels natural and nothing like when British arrives with 20 fanboys chasing behind. As much as I like the concept of full loot pvp, skill based system, and everything else that is great, uoish, I don't know if I'll be able to play top down auto attack anymore. We will see if it brings enough excitement to override those things.

I'm surprised that you're the only one replying here because my first impression about Shards Online is that it's very close to a new UO. The same with Albion Online, but as far I've seen SO looks more promising. I guess this forum is only interested in Richard Garriott's penis and Starr Longs shaved balls then look any further than SotA. I've given up on SotA and hope to find a good MMO with UO similarities. I'm wondering if SO is worth pledging to, now that they announced that Alpha backers will be able to play 24/7 in Pre-Alpha 3 at the end of THIS summer. And btw, I'm OK with top down play. To be honest, I don't like 3D MMO's that much. The reason that I play Diablo and Heroes of the Storm is the top down play PVP/PVE. I absolutely love it.

I think if youre happy with pledging to what you think will interest you then do it. Personally I have decided to never pledge to anything again as I find the whole concept corrupt and is against humans wiring of risk vs reward. Why work when you already been paid yeah? Originally I was so behind the idea of kickstarts and helping indie games, now I see it as just one fat giant scam. Even the concept of teirs is fucked. If I was going to release a game there would be ONE fucking pledge and it would be clearly outlined that it would be for hardware and server hosting costs or clearly outlined that this is exactly where the money is going with a budget shown and regularly updated on my website so ALL backers knew exactly where every fucking cent went. Hell it should be a condition for a successful fund! Just my useless 2 cents bro beans!
